April Goals and Progress Report

It's a fabulous Friday, and I'm just about to get out and enjoy the weather. Before I do that, however, it's time to review my goals from last month. So let's see how it went.

Quilting and Flimsies

1. I have four small quilts to quilt, but I forgot to mention the orange Four Fabric Forest. For March, I'd like to get all four of these itty bitties quilted and bound. Complete!

whatever it may be. Complete!

These are the blocks I have so far:

7. I always enjoy participating in

There are some perfect fabrics in my stash to make this table runner for spring. Complete! Not finished though. Finishes are not required for Let's Book It. I'll get this quilted and bound in April.

Just for Fun

8. I'm participating in another Pay it Forward event, and so I'm going to get started by making this little kleenex cover for a friend. Complete! This tutorial is from Fun with Barb

9. Next I want to make up the little iron caddy from the pattern I picked up in Reno. Complete!

10. Finally, I want to get started on Maggie's Pawtrait. Complete!

If I can finish all of that, I'm going to take a stab at the Sonora quilt from one of my photographs. In Progress. If thinking about it counts, then I'm off to a good start. I've been thinking about this one quite a bit, trying to decide how to do it. I have the fabrics...now I just need the courage.

Also, I've been thinking about how to make the pattern for it. Previously, I purchased a used overhead projector for this purpose, and I was planning to project it onto the blank wall where my design wall once hung. (I never used it and so I took it down.) Then, I realized that wasn't going to work very well because of the textured wall. I needed something flat and smooth so that I could draw my pattern. Enter a new white board. Mike helped me hang it up this past weekend.

So, you can see that my thinking has taken me quite a ways on this. Now...to get started. Not sure if that will be April or May, but soon. And I figure that entitles me to:

So...not a bad showing. And now, on to April!

April is a short month to begin with, and mine will be even shorter because I'm heading off to Vancouver, WA on the 28th for a 4-day class. It's a bit of a drive from my house, and so I'll be staying up there for the duration of the class. Nevertheless, I have a pretty good list worked out for myself, so here goes:

Quilting and Flimsies

1. Quilt and Bind the Sweet Tweet table runner, that was March's Let's Book It project (also pictured above).

2. Make a flimsy from the blocks for Cats of a Different Color.

WIP's

3. Finish up four more blocks for the Live, Love, Teach quilt. I'm coming down the home stretch on this one. These will be blocks 49-52 of 56 total blocks.

4. Complete Block 3 of 12 blocks for the Chicken Buffet quilt. These are the two blocks I have so far.

My friend Sharon tells me I can keep using this as my Let's Book It project as well.

5. Complete the next section for the Wind in the Whiskers quilt. The next one I'll do is called Kitten Kaboodle.

Monthly Challenges

6. Complete the fourth block for the Wheel Estate quilt. This is my project for

RSC16

These are the blocks I have so far:

7. Begin the challenge quilt for my guild. If you'll recall, I have an idea for my guild's "Page and Patch" challenge that was inspired by these two images.

And that's probably enough for my short month of April. But I always need to strive for my

If I can finish all of that, I'll start piecing together the blocks for the Mumm's the Word quilt.

What's on your to-do list in April?

Wow. Talk about productive. Well done. Every time I see the chicken buffet blocks I laugh. So adorable. And Maggie pawtrait turned out really well. Nicely done.

I am amazed that you got so many projects done! I love Maggie's Pawtrait, it is beautiful. Do you have a pattern for the Cats of A Different Color? I have a Granddaughter who would love a quilt like that.

Elaine, yes, I'd love to send you the pattern. Sadly, you are no reply, and so I have no way to contact you other than this reply right here. I hope you see it.

You inspire with your dedication to your list.

I'm hoping to get my brand, spanking, new sewing room with sewing furniture done this month. It was started last June and it still isn't done. I'm waiting for the furniture builder to have me at the top of his queue. Lights , flooring, closet and wall cabinet and big windows done. Just no sewing platform, cutting platform or thread/notions holders. Hard to sew in my lap.

Sigh. Okay I will quite my complaining. I am fortunate to have all these items coming. It will be the first dedicated space I've ever had for my sewing. Previously it was the dining table. Needed to be packed up each day. Presently the dining table is the tax paperwork launch pad.

The striped binding on Maggie's Quilt is the perfect fabric. Gorgeous. You get so much done, it amazes me each month to see your goals list.

April is the month I finish the placemats and potholders I started before I got sick in March. I gave away the last four of the Red&Yellow Series and have only two of the ships left so I need to finish the dozen sitting by the machine. Thanks for asking.
