Addicted to Stitching

There was still quite a bit to stitch on the 3rd Hocuspocusville block when I picked it up this morning. I usually stitch at least two lengths of floss. Each length is divided into three lengths of two strands each, and so two cut lengths actually equals six total lengths, if that makes sense. While I hadn't planned on finishing it this morning, I kept going and going and going until I reached a place where it was so close to being finished that I had to keep going. You understand, right? So there it is...all finished.

Anyone care for a batwing mocha?

The next time I work on this, I'll be doing the fourth block, Morgana's Apothecary. I've been using a little bit of orange on each of these blackwork blocks. The pumpkins are my usual target, but there were no pumpkins on the previous block or the next one. For the next one, I'll probably use orange on the little flourish below the words "Morgana's Apothecary" and also for the candy in the window...not the jars, just what's inside them. It's good to have a plan, don't you think?

And never get between an addict and her stitching because I had to make up two more to keep my hands busy. I'm a little late getting started on this week's stitchery for the Live, Love, Teach quilt, and so I made two to work on...this one from Nancy (I think)

and this one little mystery block. Neither Lisa nor I know who submitted it. Hopefully someone will claim it when it's posted to the Facebook album.

Since I'm a little late getting started on this week's block, I'll start with this one. It will stitch up a little faster, and that will at least give me the illusion that I'm caught up.

Also, I'm continuing to make headway on the Doors of Ireland. There are just five of the 13 Irish chain blocks left to stitch, and then I'll be able to start stitching details into the door blocks. That's the part I'm looking forward to.

It's looking pretty good to my eye, despite my wobbly lines. They aren't perfectly straight, but it isn't obvious to the casual observer. If someone wants to look that closely, I'll just smack 'em upside the head and tell them to knock that sh*t off. Yeah...I'm real friendly like that when I give an in-person trunk show.

As I was posting these images, I realized that I hadn't used this photo-op to take a look at the quilt back. I'll do that next time I take it off the machine.

Tonight is my guild meeting. Our speaker this month is Violet Craft. She is a nationally-recognized designer of fabric and contemporary quilts, although this is the first time I've heard of her. I just now took a look at her blog, and wow...she has some beautiful stuff there. Take a look and see for yourself.

Also tonight, I'm turning the Snowbirds quilt over to one of the guild members who is responsible for hanging guild quilts in the library in North Plains, Oregon. She goes for seasonal quilts and put out a call recently for some winter quilts. I offered up the Snowbirds, and so my quilt will be on display until sometime next spring. Kind of fun. I'll probably make a trip over there at some point to visit it.

Aside from the guild meeting, I have some housekeeping chores and laundry, and I need to make a quick trip into town. It's a full day. If I'm going to have time for any quilting, I need to get going.

Happy Monday, Everybody!

Woo Hoo! The comment box is back!!
Now having settled down, I can actually say what I wanted to say, which is that your straight lines are improving so don't go beating yourself up. Hope that doesn't sound condescending, and you take it the way it is meant, which is as a compliment.

The quilting is looking good. I have no idea why quilting a really straight line has to be so difficult if not to say impossible. Your lines are very good but don't you dare go looking at mine. I love your stitchery and the touch of orange really sets it off. I love that you add a little of you to each stitchery. The cat on each snow lady was great

Your Embroidery is so fabulous! I think you are in for a treat with Violet Craft coming to your guild. I hope you take lots of pics, she does some very cool stuff. Surely you have seen the Lion? And now she has a giraffe as well! Enjoy,
