Even with that, I had time to machine sew the binding on the Dream Machines. This morning I had some time to start the hand sewing. The quilt is about a twin size quilt, and I'm about 25% of the way around it now. Here's how it's looking:
I wanted to give it a fun and colorful binding, and I think this will fill the bill. What do you think?
After spending a little time on that, I took off for my Friday morning walk with Sue. We walked the Fanno Creek Trail this morning, which goes through a wetlands. There's a little swampy area we pass where we usually see lots of ducks (and sometimes ducklings). Today as we stood there, a Great Blue Heron flew in and landed some distance away. He seemed a little camera shy, and so I had to zoom in quite a bit to catch him.
We walked on a little farther and found this area had been clear cut. It's always been a tangle of blackberries, holly, and wild roses, and so it was a little surprising to be able to see so far. You can even see a couple of bee hives off in the distance there.
A little farther on, we found this sign explaining what's going on here.
Sue and I have been walking the Fanno Creek Trail for at least ten years, and we've been impressed by the stewardship of these important wetlands. Usually, it's the parks service of Tualatin Hills Parks & Recreation doing the work. In this case, it appears the City of Tigard has a hand in it. Whatever the case, we are appreciative of this resource and the care that's been taken to keep it environmentally sound.
When I got home I headed straight for my ice packs to ice my knee and my feet. I took some Aleve for good measure. My knee was killing me, but it's feeling a little better now. I'm going to start a new little project this afternoon since I'm well along the way with my goals for the month. The only thing left is my extra credit project of quilting the Blushing Aspens table runner. It appears to be occupied currently, and so I guess that's out.
It's a good reason to start a new project, don't you think? Surely you don't think I'd disturb my cat when he's sleeping upside down.
I'll say more about the new project tomorrow since it's always easier to show than to tell. For now, I'll just get to it.
