If there is time tomorrow, I'm hoping to finish the applique and top-stitching. It might be too much to try to get the borders on as well, but maybe... If all of that gets accomplished, it will look something like this when it's finished.
So it was with trembling hands that I spent this afternoon creating the next stitchery for the Candy Cane Square quilt. This one is The Church.
The tracing is complicated enough, but shading in all those colors takes several hours. It's hooped up and ready to go now.
There isn't a lot to tell you about the weekend. It always ends up a lot of sitting around visiting with friends we've known since before our kids were born...and you know that was a long time ago. There's always good food and music. Usually there's time for me to steal away and take some pictures. Our friends' place is a beautiful garden spot with lots of flowers, bugs, spiderwebs, boards, and vintage junk that makes for some interesting macro photography. When the pictures came off the camera, there were about a hundred total. I'm only showing the ones that were the prettiest or the most interesting.
The place looks different depending on the time of day, and these images were taken in the golden light of the afternoon and in the blue light of the morning.
And now it's time to get on with dinner. Tomorrow there is salsa on the agenda... Enough tomatoes have been harvested from the greenhouse to put together a batch. There's a little bit of housework to do, and of course, a little unpacking. Otherwise, I think it's going to be a day of rest and relaxation. There's been precious little sewing over the past five days or so, and I'm ready to get back at it.

Beautiful photographs!
Sitting around with old friends can be some of the best times :) The pictures are wonderful, so much color and texture.
Sure you had a wonderful time just sitting with old friends. Love the photography, especially the leaves.
Your photos are outstanding! I particularly love the rich reds.
Wonderful photos. You should make a quilt of some of your images, maybe not the actual photos, but your fabric interpretation of them. Like you did with your Doors of Ireland. You could do a filmstrip edging around the blocks. As if you need another project...... Your photos just popped that creative bubble in my head. :) Thanks for sharing your great shots.
Sounds like a great weekend to me! I spent Saturday evening-to-late night with old friends too. There was plenty of shade & a cooling breeze, so sitting outside was nice. We had potluck dinner, then Corbin put up his giant movie screen & we sat outside & watched "Guardians of the Galaxy" - complete with Red Vines, M&Ms, Skittles & chocolate chip ice cream cones!
Love all of the photos. I think my favorite today is the one with the rose (?) leaves coming thru' the ladder. It just captured my attention.
Gorgeous photos! I love the flower ones, the colors are so saturated. Sounds like an almost perfect weekend, well other than the stitching withdrawal.
Fabulous photos.
