Busy Day and a Winner

Thank you to all who came to my 5th Blogiversary Party. You left such nice comments! It's time to announce the winner. There were 99 comments in all, and Mr. Random has spoken. The winner of the fat quarter bundle is:

#20--Quilting Tangent!

Congratulations, Quilting Tangent! I've sent you an email, so check your inbox.

Yesterday was a running around day. I spent some time on my Hocuspocusville stitchery in the morning, and I moved my hoop for the last time.

If I don't spend too much time on the computer this morning, I can probably finish up that last part on the lower right corner.

After that, I went to the grocery story. I could have waited, but realized that if I went yesterday morning, I could have more days at home. It was a quick trip since I didn't need much. Then I had about an hour and a half before I needed to take off for yet another appointment with my orthotist. Recall that a few weeks ago I was whining about my hurting feet. I think yesterday's visit made the final adjustments and my feet should start feeling better now.

But before that, I got a start on the Quilter's Tote Tool that's on my list of goals for the month.

It was only just barely started when I needed to leave again, and so I've just started quilting the largest sections. It starts out with quilting the batting to the fabric, and then I'll start sewing it together.

I could do that much, but the pattern also stopped me dead in my tracks when I realized I don't have everything I need to complete this. For one thing, I need a piece of plastic for one of the pockets, and I need almost 2 yards of grosgrain ribbon for the handles. Tomorrow I'm heading off to the farmer's market with Erik and Mae, and so I can pick that up on my way home.

Also, if you look at the picture of the pattern, you can see that the largest pocket is made from a panel. I was just going to use a coordinating fabric, but then I realized that Jody Houghton, who designs the "Sisterhood of Quilters" fabrics, is going to be speaking at my guild meeting on Monday.

She's also going to have fabric panels for sale, and I might find something there that would be very cute on my tote.

In the meantime, a second set of clamps arrived that will allow me to sandwich the Doors of Ireland quilt. I'll be glad to get that finished and then put my sewing room back together. My weekend is pretty well mapped out sewing-wise. I want to make two more blocks for Lisa's quilt. (I fell a week behind because of the quilt show.) With the Hocuspocusville stitchery complete, it's a good time to be doing some embroidery for her quilt. Also, once I have all the supplies in hand, I can continue on with the tote.

Of course, there's always watering to do, dinners to make, birds to feed, and cats to pet...and I guess I'll feed the cats too. There's plenty to keep me out of trouble for the weekend coming up. What's on your agenda for the weekend?

We bought a horse for dd last weekend, and as usual, we weren't quite ready for it so... This weekend we will be finishing up some fencing work and doing the last touches to the barn stall. Sounds like fun in the 100+ temps we've been having:/

Yep, you made an excellent choice using oranges on the Hocuspocus stitchery! And I'm guessing that once again you did NOT kill anyone at the grocery store. I am SO PROUD of you!!!
Neat bag! I was gifted a Quilt in a Day zippered tote that will hold an 18" X 24" mat. I've been using it to corral my cutting mats & rulers. But it's very utilitarian beige - yours will be way more fun!!

I really like the Sisterhood fabrics, but have never thought of a way to use them, the tote bag would be perfect. I hope you find something you like.
