Waterfall Tour

Considering that Whistler is a world class ski resort area, there is plenty to do despite its being near summer with temperatures in the 80's. Most of the snow is gone, but there is still plenty at the upper elevations. But the lack of snow shouldn't deter one from getting out to enjoy the many other outdoor activities to be had here. There's plenty of mountain biking, rock climbing, river rafting, and hiking to be done as well. If the great outdoors doesn't appeal to you, there's plenty of shopping and an aboriginal museum celebrating Canada's First Peoples.

This morning we went on a driving tour and saw Alexander Falls and Brandywine Falls. There was plenty of beautiful scenery along the way, including this interesting pinnacle atop the mountain.

On this particular trip, I kept taking what I expected to be the last picture of Deb, although it could also have been my last picture. Daring old people that we are, we trespassed and crossed into the danger zone several times.

Actually not, but we did use this as our guide in determining the dangerous of any activity. A fence with no sign warning us not to climb over would certainly indicate no danger whatsoever, right?

The first stop on the waterfall tour was Alexander Falls.

We asked a fellow tourist to take this picture of the four of us in exchange for us taking a picture of them too. Fair's fair, I always say.

A motley crew if I ever saw one.

We saw these little wildflowers that reminded me of trilliums; but with four petals on the flower, they are something different. Still, they look so much like a trillium that I'm suspicious they may be in the same family of flowers. This will require further research on my part when I have more time...unless someone out there knows what these are. If so, please chime in.

That Deb...such a daredevil.

Having survived Alexander Falls with our group intact, we made our way to Brandywine falls where it was a pretty 15 minute walk out to the viewpoint. The forest floor was all moss, and so lush.

This is Brandywine Falls. When we stood at this spot, we could see the rainbow its mist generated. Nice.

Deb and Tom took a good picture.

The walk to the end had three areas where there were pretty views. The waterfall could be seen from the first two. When we walked to the end, we could see this expansive view of the valley.

We walked back to a picnic area by the car and sat for a while, drinking some soft drinks we'd brought along. We were interested in the Canadian currency, which has a mylar center and a couple of places where you can see right through it! I know you Canadian readers will be amused by this, but your money is so much fancier than ours here in the United States.

It even has braille. Look just past the end of the word, "Canada" almost into the queen's hair. Cool!

Tom and Mike and Holly (Tom and Deb's adult daughter is here with us for a few days) went rafting this afternoon. Deb and I stayed behind and relaxed.

It has taken me all afternoon to get through this post since I'm writing it in about one-minute increments. I'm going to stop now and go back to being sociable.

Just be careful with your Canadian money... because it is plastic it tends to fall out of pockets and hands easily, can be quite a pain really.

Further to my earlier comments about great quilt shops in Lynden, this came out today which is the perfect resource for WA state quilt shops.
www.washingtonquiltshophop.com And yes, our money is pretty. When I get to AZ in the winter, always have to adjust to looking at the numbers on your money and not go by colour!

Ooooh, fab shots of the waterfalls! So much lovely greenery - so very different from drought country down here. I'm glad that y'all are having such a nice time, and being daredevils too!
Canadian money looks a lot like Australian money - it has the clear sections too. I don't remember feeling any Braille bumps on it though. Each bill was a different color and size though, so it was easy to tell which denomination you had in your hand!
Thanks for taking us along again! You & Mike are just so good to us!!!
