Two Cats

Yesterday was my day to catch up on my blocks for the Cats of a Different Color quilt...my choice for this year's

RSC 15

May's color was green:

June's was light blue.

Here are all the cats I have so far:

As I've said many times, this pattern is Pam Bono's Cats in the Attic pattern. I got it for free on the internet several years ago. Apparently, it was taken down following her death. If anyone would like the pattern, I can send it to you in pdf form.

With those finished, I'm moving on to Lisa's Live, Love, Teach retirement quilt. My goal for the month was to complete Blocks 19 and 20. Today, I'll be focusing my attention on Cindy's block:

If I can finish that one, I'll turn my attention to MeiXing's block:

MeiXing's block has a lot of detail that I won't be able to duplicate. However, I do have some fabric that I think will make a good likeness of the colors. I'm thinking I'll probably combine several different colors of floss to embroider the words, and I might try adding some buttons as well. We'll see. I never know how these will work out until I put needle and thread to fabric.

Today I'm picking up Week 6 of my CSA share. I started my soup this morning to decrease the load late this afternoon. Dinner will be made already and I can focus my attention on how to attack my next load of veggies.

I wanted to say something more about the recipe link I gave you yesterday for the Carrot Top Chimichurri. It says right in the recipe to taste it with a carrot or some bread, rather than tasting it with a spoon. So, of course, I tasted it with a spoon and I was kind of luke warm to the flavor and texture. It can be left at room temperature, and so I tried it later in the afternoon and found it similarly lackluster.

Nevertheless, I had my carrots, cauliflower and broccoli to roast for dinner, and so I decided to give it another try once I had the veggies roasted. Oh. My. Goodness. What a difference tasting it with something made. It was delicious. I didn't completely douse my vegetables in it. Rather, I drizzled a little over the top and then mixed it in. Also, I put the container on the table so that we could spoon a little on the side for dipping. It was really quite tasty. Remember that it can be used as an accompaniment to meat too. But just to entice you more, here are last night's roasted veggies. This was a large bowl, and we managed to devour about 3/4 of them.

Also, I wanted to tell you that I made the chimichurri the same way I make pesto. I threw the unchopped veggies into the food processor. Then I pulsed them until they were pretty well chopped up. Then, with the motor running, I added the olive oil in a thin stream until it was well mixed. That was much easier than chopping everything ahead of time.

Finally, as you know, I'm very excited about my sunflowers this year. One of them is showing me just a little bit of its petals. I can't wait for it to open completely. It shouldn't be long now.

Other than that, I'm still catching up on my housework, although I put a good dent in it yesterday. If I can stay on task (always a question mark), I'll get the rest caught up today.

I keep hoping that someone will start making Pam Bono's patterns again, it would be a nice memorial to all of her hard work.
The squid is a block? I couldn't seem to wrap my head around it and kept going back and rereading, then wondering how that squid got in there, LOL.

I am loving those kitty cats. Are they paper-pieced? I think that would be easier than piecing the smaller pieces for me. I have done a couple of Pam's patterns with the small pieces. Really lovely and fun. Thanks for your response. Helen G. hrglover at hotmail dot com.

Those kittens are kind of cute. But I think you need an orange one, a black and white one and a gray one. I'll include the dewormer in the box. Cheers!

Fabulous cats. So glad that you are able to turn the block into a quilt after having it for so long. I know I have lots of great patterns saved off for someday. Glad someday is now for you.

Just adorable kitties and love that they're in in different positions in the block.

Yeah, these kitties are super sweet, and the fabrics are so nice for them. And now I'm thinking I have to go roast some veggies for breakfast, because you've turned my mouth into a waterfall. :D

Such pretty kitties! Good for you on using up the CSA veggies. Remember... you can blanch them and freeze for the winter as well. Herbs are good in ice cube trays with a little water for later too!

I know you have been asked 1000 times but if you would be so kind as to send me the Cats in the Attic pattern, I would be appreciative. I just redid a room in my home for my beloved Tonkinese cats. I found some inexpensive artwork I love and I would like to draw the bright colors into a wallhanging... cats in the attic would be purrrfect for this project.
