Me Oh My, I Love Pie

This morning I told a few of you that I had decided not to bake a pie today. It was supposed to be terribly warm, and the last thing I wanted to do was crank up the oven to 500°F. And then....

It must have been divine intervention because the skies opened up and it started to rain. All day there was cloud cover, and it stayed relatively cool. So what could I do but...

It's not the most beautiful pie I've ever baked since it was really too warm to be making my crust in yesterday's heat. Somehow I just know our taste buds won't mind. With a side of vanilla ice cream, that's going to be one nice dessert this evening. Actually, it'll probably make more than one dessert, but that will be for another evening. Just want to be clear about that.

The only other thing I did today was to finish up the dratted paper-pieced sections for my two bee blocks. As I mentioned in a previous post, our bee hostess asked us to leave them in sections with the paper still attached.

Those will go out in tomorrow's mail, and then I sincerely hope I don't do any paper-piecing again for a good long time.

It's been a busy and fun weekend, even if it was too hot. I hope your weekend went well too.

That pie looks beautiful to me, I'm glad the rains came and you got to make it. Hope the AC gets fixed today.

Yummy - we loves our pie too! Glad to hear you finally got some rain and a break in the beastly weather, no matter how brief. Can you please order up some cool clear 70ish days in September when we're there visiting everyone again?

Is that a free paper piece pattern? Looks simple and fun. Great way to use up some larger scraps.

mmmm such a yummy looking pie. I'm putting off making dinner as it's so hot. The AC at work wasn't working and with floor to ceiling windows it was very hot. So I'm enjoying the relative cool of our house. Maybe salad for dinner so I don't need to use the oven?

Man oh man, fresh cherries in a pie and ice cream - it doesn't get much better than that! I'm so glad to hear it cooled off for you yesterday. It was 101f here & sticky. Saturday was nice though, only in the 80s. Supposed have monsoon weather this week, hot, humid & thunderstorms which could be fire starters. Lovely.
Luckily, Kay, my coworker, is going to get us some Drumsticks in a few minutes!

Hot enough to fry eggs on the pavement here. Can't imagine what it felt like in the Valley without the cooling effects of the ocean so close by...

Pie looks delicious. Paper piecing is still in my future.

The pie looks great. Besides, looks do not equal taste!
