More Leaves

Yesterday was a day for swimming and grocery shopping, and I had a couple of errands to run as well. It was the best day yet for my waterproof headphones and audio book listening. I've switched off to the largest of the ear buds. They help keep the water out of my ears so that I can hear better. Also, I'm attempting to keep my cap pulled down over my ears, which also helps to hold them in place. It naturally wants to slip up on my head, and so I'm stopping every ten minutes or so to adjust it. It seems I've also figured out a way to avoid becoming entangled in the neck strap and the cord for the ear buds. All in all, I think I've worked out a plan to make my swimming more enjoyable.

Aside from all of that, I spent more time quilting the Aspen Tree. The tree trunk and all of the leaves are finished, and I was able to get a start on quilting the green border. I was half way around the border when I just got tired of sewing, and called it quits for the day.

The leaves are stitched in matching threads for as much as I was able to match them.

It's hard to see the quilting on the back, and so I've turned down the brightness and bumped up the contrast to make it easier to see.

When all the leaves were stitched, I started in on the green border. That's one of Vicki Welsh's hand-dyed fabrics in the border.

The quilting extends the tree trunk and branches out into the border. Across the bottom, I've added some vegetation..

Along the sides, the branches extend out from the quilt's interior.

Today I have a day at home. I'm going to get my tomato seeds started, feed the birds, and then continue on with the quilting on this. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it finished and bound. If the sun comes out, I might decide to go out for a walk. I do love a day at home.

I really like what you did with the border by extending the parts of the tree into it. Very creative!

Very nice quilting on the Aspen! I really like your vegetation - and that you know to stop when you get tired. Yay!

The quilting looks great. Hope you have a finish by the end of today.

Oh, you fill me with inspiration! I have a bunch of maple leaf blocks. Wouldn't stitching a tree on top of them be fabulous! Hummmm......brain is ticking. Thanks for the idea.

Nice. I like the thread color on the red/orange leaves.
