Two Little Quilts

My sewing machine was positively smoking yesterday. I finished two quilts in one day. First, I finished off my project for:

Project QUILTING

The theme for the first challenge was "Trees". Since I was already planning to make this quilt for my partner in the January doll quilt swap, the theme was perfect for me. As for the doll quilt swap, the theme this month is "A Good Book". I chose Bill Brysons, "A Walk in the Woods". (Sorry, I know I already said this yesterday, but this is my post for the linky party, and so I need to say it one more time.) The quilt ended up at 16 x 16 inches.

My second quilt is a gift, and so I can only show you a peek. And this is my new take on the whole "peek" thing. Tantalizing, no? It's a little mug rug, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow. I'll show it to you then. You'll just have to trust me when I say that I started it and finished it all in one day yesterday.

So I had way too much fun yesterday. While I managed to cross one housekeeping task off my list, I still have a couple more to finish today. Also, it's a swimming day, and I'm positively brimming with excitement about getting into the pool and reading at the same time. (If that makes absolutely no sense to you, you'll have to go back and read my post from day before yesterday.) Brimming...yeah...as much as anyone can brim with excitement over exercise, but it's a start. Possibly I'm just talking about the little bits of coffee grounds in the bottom of my cup. For now, I'll stick with "brimming".

If I can not procrastinate too long on my housework, I'm hoping to get some blocks made today. I have blocks to make for

Our bee hostess asked us to make two "flying geese" blocks of our choosing. I'm choosing the Dutchman's Puzzle. Also, I want to make a block for:

January's block is the Double 9-Patch:

Sometimes it's fun to get back to basics, no? The 9-patch was the first quilt block I ever made.

And if I can get all that done, I think I'll work on finishing up the flimsy on my "Aspen Tree" wallhanging:

I want to finish it up so that I can sandwich four flimsies all together. The ones waiting are Psycatdelic, Shoot the Moon, and Sew Helpful. Add in the Aspen Tree, and I'll have my work cut out for me.

And with that...I'd better get busy. Time's a'wastin'.

Whew! I'm tired after reading all that you did and are going to do. I may have to sit down and rest a bit before I start anything else. They all look like fun projects, though. I really like the swimming and reading activity. That is awesome.
