He was my constant companion while I was in the sewing room yesterday. Actually, I guess I was his companion because he was there when I arrived...and he was still there when I left. The cat is tired. All that mousing this summer has him completely worn out, and he needs his winter hibernation to be ready for the next sunny day.
So yesterday, I finished all the blocks for the Dream Machines quilt. This is my project for:
December's block was quilter's choice, and I chose this rose color.
Now all the blocks are finished, and this can go onto my "make-it-into-a-flimsy" pile.
Someone always asks, and so I'll just say straight out, this is Barbara Weiland Talbert's "Dream Machines" pattern, available free right here.
When I finished those, I made my block for this month's Block Lotto.

The December block is this 14-inch "O" block. We were to use a dark background, and then the "O" fabrics were quilter's choice. The block is made in quarters and then sewn together. This one went together pretty fast.
Today I have some running around to do in town. I need to get my debit card replaced, and then I have a little shopping to do. The birds have eaten all their seed again, and so I need to do some bird grocery shopping.
Then I'm going to make a wild stab at finding some black dress pants. I absolutely hate shopping for clothes, and so I'm going to one store. If that doesn't do it, then the jig is up. Mike and I are attending a dinner at one of the local wineries tomorrow. People dress in everything from "Friday casual" to snooty prom attire. I can always resort to my black denim, but I'm always wishing I had some dressier slacks to wear. Hopefully, one store will do it. And if it doesn't, then just put that under the heading of "Oh well".
Also, I need to mail some letters and pick up a couple of things at the grocery store. I keep thinking there's something else, but it escapes me now. I won't remember until I get home again.
So that's my day in a nutshell. Tomorrow is the last day to link up for the November NewFO Linky Party. It's a great party. Don't miss out. Winner of the giveaway will be announced Sunday.
This one got away from me last time, and so I'm happy to be offering up something I think you're really going to like. Be here early Monday morning to see what I have in store for one lucky winner.

We've been rainy too - just on the side of freezing weather, so I walk extra careful on that stuff. But like Smitty, we all prefer to be relaxed inside. Thank you for sharing about SewMaMaSew's giveaway - I would have missed it.
Nice rainbow colours you have going there Barbara. Hope you found the slacks. I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to clothes shopping as well. I seem to always find nice fabrics, and nice things for other people, but when it comes to shopping for myself, I loose patience and give up.
Love the machine blocks... can't wait to see what you do with them! How about some spool blocks for a border!?!!
I like the colors you picked for the sewing machine blocks. You are so productive!! Good luck on the shopping. I too avoid shopping for clothes until I absolutely must have something. Thankfully, JC Penney is pretty close and usually has something I can live with.
I'm with Smitty lately. Only not catnip in my bed. I did work on my sister's quilt yesterday & a little today - maybe more tonight.
Clothes shopping = yech. Hope you were successful & that you have fun at the party tomorrow!
Great little sewing machine blocks - a perfect sewing room quilt. Good luck with the shopping. Some days I go looking and can't find a thing - nothing fits, wrong colours or would look great on a younger body- while other days I could clear out the store - everything fits, colours are perfect and the style suits my figure type.
Staying in with your sewing machines sounds like the perfect way to pass a stormy day. What a great block collection. Enjoy the flimsy construction phase. A great quilt is just around the corner!
Can't wait to see the flimsy--those blocks are cute. And that rose colored fabric? I have some, and mine isn't new. I might even call it vintage. Of course yours is new and a reproduction, right?
Dear Smitty and Gracie, Zorro here. It might be cold where you are but its getting warmer every day here. I've just come inside to check my food bowl (as you do) but had to unsuccessfully dodge the sprinkler. This meant I had to hop on the bed and protest loudly to be towel-dried off before I could settle down and do some serious licking of my own - you know, of my privates. I will probably nap for a bit, on and off, now for the rest of the day before getting up tonight to patrol the perimeter. Sigh. A cat's work is never done. Do you feel me? After that, I will probably take over the ottoman and prevent my human from putting her feet up. I will then use my extensive powers of persuasion to get her to brush me ...but not the short and curlies on my underneath. There will be purring, so much purring. Well, that's my day. I enjoy reading about your antics. Be careful of that catnip - I hear its addictive. Lil' Fluff says hi to Gracie.
Why can't we all be cats? So nice he let you use his room to do some sewing on a stormy day. Love the machines..... and glad I am not the only one with piles of blocks to be made into flimsy's!
Those dream machines are a lot of fun. But I have to agree with you...clothes shopping is not!
It's BEAUTIFUL! I love those blocks.
The black dream machine is my favorite. Hope you found some black pants- they go with everything!
The sewing machines turned out beautifully. It's going to be such a fun quilt to finish.
I like the Dream Machines.
