Slow Stitching a Finish: Peppermint Star

It's a finish today for my Slow Stitching Sunday.

My Peppermint Star table topper is all finished now. Here's the top:

Isn't this peppermint stripe binding fun?

Here's how it looks from the back:

With that little swirly pinwheel in the center, it looks kind of like a Christmas package with a ribbon, doesn't it?

I have to say I'm pretty darned proud of my holly leaf vine in the border.

Way back in November of 2011 (almost exactly three years ago), I wanted to do a similar motif in the sashing of this Christmas table runner I made as a gift for a pseudo family member:

As I was searching for that image, I was reading old blog posts in which I was trying to work up the courage to do the holly leaf design. In the end, I lacked the confidence, and this being a gift, I resorted to straight line quilting to avoid messing it up. Fast forward three years, and I'm quilting holly leaves with the big boys. Yay me!

And now my table topper is looking so pretty on my holiday table along with my holiday centerpiece!

Slow but sure, Christmas is moving in at the Three Cats Ranch.

Next up, I'm going to do the quilting on the Oh Christmas Tree wall hanging. I have some ideas about what to do, but I don't expect to finish it for a couple of days. Then, I'll get back to the Gardener's Journal quilt.

How's your slow Sunday going?
