Pets on Quilts Show: Blooming Sunflower

Are you ready for the greatest show on earth? Thanks to Padsworth, Dragondrop, and Lily Pad Quilting for sponsoring this favorite show.

Gracie here to show you what's been going on at the Three Cats Ranch. My mom says it's my day to shine, and so I'm just sitting here grazing on the grass enjoying this August weather.

My Mom's been stitching up a storm getting ready for the Pets on Quilts show, and I've been helping her test her quilts for floofiness. Every cat knows that a quilt's not a quilt unless it has plenty of floof.

I've been a quilt sitter for years. Heck, I even won a photo contest when I sat on this quilt below.

Yep. So that pesky Smitty is out of the loop this time around. What can I say, Pal? When you snooze, you lose.

In preparation for the show, my mom took lots of pictures of me.

She took pictures starting at the tips of my toes...

and everything in between...

right up to the tips of my ears.

With this kind of beauty, who can blame her for having trouble catching my best side?

Is it my chin whiskers?

My whisker freckles?

Or my gorgeous eye spot?

Hard to say, but let's get on with the quilt. My mom has been growing flowers in her sewing room. Blue skies are always a good place to start when one is trying to grow something.

And this flower grew...

and grew...

and grew...

and grew...

and grew...

and grew...!

Until finally, it was THIS BIG! Those little squares were cut to 1-1/2 inches, and there were 726 in all.

And she put this stripedy binding on it.

And then she laid it out on the floor for me to inspect.

And I looked this thing over carefully, let me tell you, because we only want our best quilts in the Pets on Quilts show.

So check out these leafy veins.

And these sunbeams...lighting up my beautiful furs, of course.

The back has more flowers on it.

And she quilted even more flowers and leaves into the border.

And I just want to say that I think I look divine lounging right here.

If you like this pattern, it's available as an instant download right here...designed by Jane L. Kakaley. She has lots of cool flower quilts in her Etsy shop. My mom wants to make another one soon.

So, I hope you've enjoyed our quilt. Now head on back there to the Pets on Quilts show and give some more pets the apurreciation they deserve.

I don't think you have a good side, you're gorgeous every which way.

Gracie is just beautiful. I am just itching to reach out and give her a cuddle! But then Tibby would be put out. Today my son-in-law came over with two of the grandies and their dog. You should have seen my poor Tibby when she spied that dog at HER back door! Every single strand of that poor cat's body was standing upright so she looked huge, and she was hunched up and hissing in fury. Poor love. It took ages for her to settle after they left.

So glad you got to shine today, dear Gracie! And with so many purrrrfect sides, it's really hard to tell which one's your "best" side - they're all beautiful! I do especially love that chin shot, tho, that is just too precious.

Mom's quilting really shines, too. I love the sunflowers she quilting into the borders. I'm hoping that one day somehow, she'll show ME how to do that!

I bet you miss her while she's off at that "symposium" drinking party thingy. She'll be home soon, but I guess in the meantime, Dad'll keep your chin rubbed, eh?

All about you - beauty, softness, lush lashes, warmth; Quilt was all about how well you set it off and enhanced it into being. Then came the striped binding and you had to take second place; how was I going to let you know you had dropped from the coveted top spot to a distant second behind that inimitable binding ?~!

I'm still working out what to say to you... bear with me please ?~!
