August Progress Report and Goal Setting

It's been a busy month here at the Three Cats Ranch, but I still managed to accomplish quite a few of my goals. I'm writing this post ahead because as you read this, I'm in Tacoma, Washington, for the 2014 Association of Pacific West Quilters Symposium. I'll have more to tell you about that in separate post(s). For now, I'll tell you how I did for my July goals.

Quilting and Flimsies

July was kind of devoted to quilting, and I'm happy to say I got quite a few crossed off my list.

1. Quilt and bind "Where Angels Walk". Complete!

2. Quilt and bind Blooming Sunflower, due at my guild challenge in August. Complete!

3. Also, I would like to quilt and bind "Happy Campers" so that we can hang it in the fifth wheel before we head off to Minnesota on August 31st. In Progress.

4. Depending on how long those take, I'm hoping to quilt and bind Joseph's Quilt this month. No Progress.

5. Also, it's time to get my quilts ready for entry into this year's Oregon State Fair. Complete!

6. And that's already a lot, but if I can get everything else done, including the stuff below, I'd like to get this flimsy pulled together for quilting at a later date. It's been on my list for quite some time, and I'd like to get it on the road to being finished. This is "Hello Moon", but I have another name in mind for it that will make more sense once it's finished. No Progress

Monthly Challenges

7. I'm behind on my Dream Machines for the months of June and July. Caught Up!

8. I want to make a small project for the Let's Book It Challenge. No Progress.

9. I have a partner in the July Doll Quilt Swap, and so I'll need to make a quilt for that. Complete!

10. I'd like to participate in this month's Guild BOM. No Progress.

11. I may or may not make a block for this month's Block Lotto. No progress.

12. Bonus points: As I was writing this post, I remembered that I never revealed the little wall hanging I made for my friend Lisa. This was a gift for her when I went down to California at the beginning of the month. It's a little "kitchen prayer", a pattern from Jenny of Elefantz. And I get to mark this one Complete!

If you're having trouble reading that little print, this is what it says:

Thank God for dirty dishes
They have a tale to tell
While other folks go hungry
We're eating very well
With home and health and happiness
We surely shouldn't fuss
For by this stack of evidence
Life's been good to us.

* * * * *

August isn't nearly as busy as July was, but I'm still keeping my list short. For the most part, I'm trying to make progress on the things I missed in July. Here's what I'd like to finish in August:

Quilting and Flimsies

1. Quilt and bind Joseph's Quilt (pictured above). I sandwiched this quilt months ago, and I'm determined to finish it in August.

2. Quilt and bind Happy Campers ( pictured above). I need to have it finished before we take off on our trip on August 31st.

3. Finish the quilt top for "Hello Moon" (pictured above).

Monthly Challenges

4.  I'd still like to make the project I had planned for the monthly "Let's Book It" challenge last month.

My goal from July was to make a project from this book:

5. Start a quilt for the August NewFO Challenge:

The quilt I listed as my July NewFO way back in December of last year was this "Sunny Trio" table runner from Patrick Lose. It's been on my list literally for years, and I'd still like to get started on it. Maybe I'll make it in August.

WIP's

6. It's tempting to end my list right there, but I'd really like to finish the next door for the Doors of Ireland quilt. It's been on my to-do list for a long time, and it's time to get it finished.

And I think I'll call it quits right there. That's more than enough to keep me busy during August.

What's on your wish list of goals for the month?

I love all your projects complete and in progress. That kitchen wall hanging is super sweet. Hope Smitty and Gracie are doing well. Happy August!

You did accomplish quite a bit for being on the road in July so much. The kitchen wall hanging you made for Lisa is very cute! I bet she loved it.

Discovered that I made an error in the pattern I did for my class, so my goal for August is to fix that!
