Winner and an Update

It's time to select the winner for the May NewFO Challenge. Generating a random number now, and coming up with:

#26--Amy

Congratulations, Amy! I've sent you an email, so check your inbox.

Don't despair if you didn't win because you know we'll be right back here on June 30th to show off your new stuff for June. I have two projects already, so try to keep up, okay? Next month, we'll be playing for the Double Wedding Ring lapel pin. Any June weddings or anniversaries out there? You'll be right in style with this baby pinned to your shirt:

Yesterday was the first day of my Bohemian weekend. I walked with Sue in the morning. On the way home, I stopped off at the brand new Wholly Too Expensive Foods that just opened along the way just to check it out. They had the most beautiful cherries...and bananas...and deli salads. I picked up a few things to eat while the guys are gone because I knew I'd be eating junk all weekend if I didn't. Man, they make a mean coleslaw. I might have to go back and empty my wallet for some more of that. And the cherries? Devoured. My favorite fruit. What can I say?

So aside from eating, I did do a little bit of quilting. I added two more rows to the Sunflower Mosaic.

It's the kind of project that keeps driving you forward, excited to see how it will look when you add the next rows, and the next, and the next. I'm really hoping to get quite a bit accomplished on it today.

The guys are off on their ATV trip now. As you know, I spent the last several days cooking for them. Matthew just finished his finals yesterday, and graduation is next Sunday. Last night, Mike sent me this image via text. Does Matthew look celebratory to you?

These pictures of them having a good time together make all that cooking well worth the effort. It's the maiden voyage for our truck camper, and Mike was happy to report that all camper-related things were working properly.

So that's about all that's going on here. I took some more time to look at the birdcam images from the other day. Nothing new to report. The birdcam takes, literally, thousands of images when I set it up. It would be easy to fill my hard drive with nothing but birdcam images, and so I've grown way more selective. The real holy grail at this point is getting a bird I haven't seen before. Nevertheless, I always enjoy seeing my old friends too. I especially like these guys who seem intensely curious about the camera:

And it's always kind of fun to keep up with the mischief too. You know the peanut feeder is empty when the jays go after the tube feeders. The little perches are too small for their big feet, but they manage to find a way to hang on and steal the sunflower seeds anyway.

"You look this way, I'll look that way. Do you see the cat anywhere?"

Time to get going if I'm going to get any sewing done today. I hope you have a great weekend planned for yourself. Me? I'm being totally self-indulgent while the guys are away, and I'm not ashamed to say so.

Congratulations to the winner and thank you for hosting. I hate the mess of making cole slaw, so a great deli slaw is a luxury so worth it. Enjoy your Bohemian weekend!!

Cherries are a huge favourite here too. But they are available for such a short period!! And if it rains at the wrong time, or doesn't rain, etc. etc. etc. The crop is ruined and they cost a bomb.
Lovely bird cam photos again.

Our closest Whole Foods is a 2-hour drive so I savor it while I'm there. I happily bought a bag of beautiful grapes thinking they were $3.98. No, that was per pound. Yes, $10 worth of grapes. They were good, but I would not say $10 good.

Birthdays and Anniversary are mine this month. The boys definitely look like they are enjoying themselves to the fullest. Love how your Sunflower is coming along. My Whole Foods is about 2 miles away, I'm spoiled by it. Buy most of my produce there and their meat is really good. They have a great gluten free section which I need for my dh. Enjoy your weekend of freedom.

Congratulations to Amy!
You get some really beautiful birds at your feeder.
Mine is covered by the leaves now, but they all sit in the tree so I can enjoy watching them.

Congratulations to Amy! I love the shots you get on the bird cam, a very cool way to capture all the feeder action.

The Tigard Costco had beautiful cherries yesterday. They were in the vegetable/fruit cold room. I have been eating them all day :)
