Short, but Sweet

Today I finished up the top-stitching for "A World Apart".

There were several places where I ended up with the fabric cut too short to catch under the "leading". I reinforced it with satin stitching, and then straight stitched across that. It turned out okay. You can't see it at all from the front. Even from the back, while obvious, it isn't so terrible.

It's a wall-hanging. I'm not going to get all worked up about how it looks from the back.

So then I squared it up and finished it off with a flange and a black binding.

Of course, I still need to hand-stitch the binding. The quilt is 22 x 17 inches, and so that won't take too long.

All the while, I had my trusty support network right behind me.

Tomorrow is our anniversary. It'll be 39 years. I suppose we could sign up for another 39 years. I'll be 99 and Mike will be 101. What are the chances? I'm going to my all-day hand applique class tomorrow, and then Mike and I will go out to dinner to celebrate.

I probably won't post tomorrow, but I'll be back on Sunday to tell you all about the class and the dinner. Til then, enjoy your long weekend.

The green flange is a great touch! Will you take it to Show & Tell at your guild next month? Have you taken anything yet? They would be inspired by it - especially if you let on some of the problems you overcame with it!

Happy Anniversary to you & "Tender Guts"!! Have a lovely day!

Congratulations! 1975 was a very good year! Our anniversary was in late April. You did a very nice job camouflaging the problem on your wall hanging. Looks great; love your choice of fabrics.

Happy Anniversary to you & Mike. I think you two should give marriage a few more years to decide if it's going to "work out"....no need to rush into anything, you know. Love the wall hanging. It came out wonderfully....repairs and all.

Your world apart is beautiful! The thing that makes our worlds, and I suspect a good marriage, work is our ability to fix the tiny breaks and learn to live with the flaws. Happy anniversary to you both. :)
