March NewFO Challenge and Linky Party

2014 NewFO Challenge

It's the last day of March, and that means it's time to show off your new stuff. And it seems to me that March brings all kinds of new stuff to celebrate...like the beginning of Spring! And Daylight Savings Time! And I happen to love that extra hour of daylight at the end of the day. You won't catch me complaining about one missed hour of sleep in exchange for hours and hours of usable daylight.

So I have several new projects to show for my month of March. First, I had a partner in the monthly Doll Quilt Swap this month, and with the optional theme being "Keen on Green", I decided to pull down a book from my bookshelf and make a project I've been wanting to make for a long time. I call this project "Réimsí Glas", which is Gaelic for "Fields of Green".

Also, I did some work on my "officially designated" March NewFO project, this Chili Rounder table topper. I found this pattern while we were traveling in New Mexico, and it has been so much fun working on it. It isn't finished yet, but it's at the top of my list of projects to finish in April. It just might be going to a special someone who has a birthday in May.

Finally, I completed my "Let's Book It" project for March...this stained glass applique daffodil. I'm calling this quilt "Spring Fever".

So two out of three were finished, but finishes are not required in the NewFO Challenge. All you have to do to join in the party is start something new during the month of March. And this month, we're playing for this:

It's the Monkey Wrench quilt block lapel pin. Won't that look snappy on a hat or a coat or a purse or whatever suits your fancy? You can announce to the whole world that you are a quilter! And everyone who links up will be eligible to win. Here are my friendly guidelines:

1.  Please link-up with your newly started projects from March, finished or not.  If you feel like it, show us the progress you've made on any other previously posted NewFO projects.

2.  Please link back to this post from your blog.  Also, please link to your blog post, not your blog.  Links to entire blogs will be edited by the administrator.  Links provided for the sole purpose of promoting other events or shopping experiences will be deleted without apology. Please do not link to your Etsy shops or other giveaways and/or promotions you have going on your own blog. To be clear, it is okay to link to other events, but I want to see your NewFO's as a part of your post.

3.  Don't have a blog?  Upload an image to this FlickR group and link to that.  If you have questions about how to do that or about how to link up, please email me.  If you're having trouble posting your image, email it as an attachment, and I will be happy to post it for you.  Please know that it takes a bit for your thumbnail to appear, so don't despair.  It will appear eventually.  You might need to "refresh".

4.  Obviously, I need some way to contact you no matter how you link up.  No email address and no other way to contact you equals no entry in the giveaway.  Email me separately if you need to.

I'll leave this linky party open until one minute before midnight on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Winner of the Flower Garden lapel pin will be announced on Monday, April 7, 2014!  We will ship anywhere in the known Universe, so everyone is welcome!

Okay, here we go:

NEW-FO challenge is such a great idea! There is way too much quilt-guilt out there over UFOs and unused stash fabric. I don't think any of the world's greatest quilts or any other artwork for that matter was ever created out of feelings of guilt and self-imposed stressing over deadlines. I read one blog post this morning where the writer was taking herself to task for not achieving her HUGE list of quilting, housework, and dieting goals for last month. I say, dim the lights and the dust disappears. It feels good to start a fresh new project!

Hello Barbara,
The green quilt is wonderful. The sheep are a bit of a laugh.

Have not started anything new this month. I've been working on finishes and other obligations. Look out in April. Your doll quilt is beautiful. And the crazy chilli peppers are cute.

There, finally found the linky party. I have finished January's new start, February's has stalled. March's is destined to be a charity quilt and will get worked on in bits and pieces.

I always like Daylight savings time better. I want that extra hour in the afternoons, not mornings. Great pin this month, it matches most of the blocks I made in March. Thanks for the link ups.

Forgot to take pics - maybe I can do that after work tonight.

You did lots of fun stuff in March!!
And as far as Daylight STEALING Time - I wish they'd just pick a time & stay there. The days get longer this time of the year whether the clock is changed or not! LOL
