Triangulating

Today's post will be short because yesterday's life was dull. I know it seems as if we've always got trumpets blaring and tambourines jingling and cat parades galore every day here at the Three Cats Ranch. But that's simply not the case. Sometimes we just spend our day making half square triangles, and that's what we did yesterday...222 half square triangles to be exact.

Even Gracie and Smitty had a dull day. The wind was blowing their fuzz around, and we can't have that, now can we? It was a day for catnapping, and that's the simple truth of it.

So now all those blasted HST's are made, and it was tempting to move along to something else. There are still items left unchecked on my February to-do list, but I think they're going to remain that way. This one is just too tantalizing to set aside. Besides, if I'm going to rope my youngest (Ahem, age 30 next month...have I mentioned I was just 10 when he was born?) into helping me light up the tree, then I'd better get it finished soon. He's getting his engineering degree in June, and who knows what'll happen after that. For all I know, he may fly off somewhere far away, and that will be the end of my dreams...on so many levels.

Today I'm going swimming. Other Me had her argument all mapped out, and there was no use even trying to change her mind. Besides, we are out of coffee and I need to stop off at the grocery store. I suppose we need other kinds of food too, but the only really truly life-threatening shortage is coffee. And kitty treats. Where would we be without coffee and kitty treats? And Google?

Speaking of Google, last night I made a roasted red pepper soup and the Pioneer Woman's method of potato skins for dinner. I make mine just like hers except that I add some of my home-made salsa to them.

And I'll just say right here that I think potato skins are the Food of the Gods. Anyway...all of that to say that I have a mess of potato that was scooped from the skins, and I figure I can type "What should I do with the potato I scooped out of the skins?" into Google, and I'll come up with an answer. Whaddaya bet? So here goes:

Actually, I had to modify my question a little bit. This is what I typed in to get an answer:

"What do you do with the potato left over from making potato skins?"

And this answer from a person identified as "Shine":
Mash the potatoes with the butter, milk and cheddar cheese until fairly smooth. Use a potato masher or a whisk. Mix in fried bacon bits bacon (browned but not totally crisp). Form balls about the size of large ice cream scoops, and place them on a greased baking sheet. Scrape the top and sides with a fork to make textured lines over the balls. Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of Parmesan cheese over the top of each one.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes a preheated( 350) oven on a greased baking sheet, or until cheese is golden brown.

Sounds good, huh? I think I'd be tempted to mash the balls with the palm of my hand. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Okay, so there you go. My short post ended up not so short. Never underestimate my ability to blather on about nothing.

I worked HSTs today too, but not as many as you. The recipe for the 'scooped' left over potato sounds good enough to bake a potato or two and just scoop to try this out.

May I give you a pat on the back for finishing all those HSTs?! I totally agree that life would be nigh unbearable without cat treats and Google (we aren't coffee drinkers). I hope you had a great swim! Those potato things sound yummy!

That is one heck of a lot of HSTs! I look forward to see what you are creating with them.

That's a lot of HSTs. But now that you've got the tedious part over, you can have fun putting it all together.

I love HST's but by the end of making them, not so much. Sharon has an 8 at a time method that I now use when I'm making hundreds.

HST's are so mindless sewing but some days it's refreshing to do mindless sewing. I worked on 9 patches, which is just about the same, except I don't have to square my nine patches up like I do my HST's. The potatoes sound yummy and it's making me hungry and I just had the breakfast of champions; a protein shake. No wonder I'm hungry! lol

You crack me up! Over & over again! I think I'd mash those balls too, and maybe even fry 'em in a little butter instead of baking 'em.. and now you know why I be fluffy! :)

Oh life would be horrible without coffee and kitty treats though I hope you don't mix the 2. I'm sure you wouldn't like the taste of the fish with the java.
