Tea for Two

It's been a slow and lazy morning here at the Three Cats Ranch. I actually slept in until after 7:00, which isn't usually allowed by the furry children in the family. Usually I'm up by 5:00 or so, Losing those two hours in the day really makes a difference. Can't say I'm sorry about the two extra hours of sleep, however. Smitty had his treats and then was out and back in in a flash this morning. He will come in soaking wet from the rain, but he doesn't like the cold. This morning he discovered the heat register, apparently for the first time, and wasted no time in soaking it up.

Thanks to all who have linked up to the NewFO party. You've been keeping me busy running around to your links this morning. Lots of cute stuff going on out there in Quilt Land. And the ink is barely dry on my post about my February goals when I'm already changing my mind about my February NewFO.

I had a wonderful afternoon with my friend, Sue. For Christmas she gave me a "Tea for Two" afternoon at a local tea shop in Multnomah Village, Oregon, called Medley.

I told you about Medley once before. Sue introduced me to it once when we met for breakfast and decided to leave our planned restaurant in favor of something less busy and noisy. We enjoyed it so much that Sue decided to give me with this Tea for Two afternoon. We couldn't have had more fun together. Is there anything better than laughing with your bestie? Here's the little tray of sandwiches, cakes, and other goodies they brought us. Sue had some sort of Jasmine tea and I had Honeybush. Neither of us is a connoisseur of teas, so we chose them for their names. Mine was good, and I think Sue enjoyed hers too.

Of course, we had to take our picture together. Being the Queens of Vanity, it took us four shots to get this one. That's Sue on the right and some other photobombing woman on the left. It can't be me. She looks much too much like my mother to be me.

Anyone who knows me will tell you I still look exactly like this picture taken while I was in high school. You know, back in the 14th Century.

Only now, I look younger. (Right.)

So anyway...a wonderful afternoon spent with Sue. Thank you my dear, dear friend.

Today I have only one thing on my agenda...aside from the other things I've done this morning. I want to continue on with the second section of the Wind in the Whiskers quilt. I got started on it on Thursday. So far, I've made some of the dogwood blossoms,

the tree branch and the body of the butterfly. I left that little ruler there intentionally so that you could see how really tiny some of these pieces are. Tweezers come in very handy.

It's a great project for using up my tiniest scraps of leftover fusible. I keep them in one of those plastic bins that salad greens come in. (And those things are so handy for so many things...just sayin'.) As you can see it is overflowing, so it'll be good to clean some of these out.

Also, I'm going to try a new soup recipe today. I saw Giada DeLaurentiis make it on her show the other day and it looked good: Cannellini Bean and Sausage Stew. I'm always looking for ways to get Mike to eat some kale, which I happen to love, but he objects to its "scratchiness". I have heard it referred to as "nature's scrub brush".

So that's about it for me. I've been doing a lot of running around over the past week, but I think things will settle down a little next week. Oh yes, and before I forget:

Go Seahawks!

Now that you've discovered how to blow up your images, the quilt possibilities are endless. Too many ideas come to mind, don't they? The tea room goodies looked awesome. Did you eat all that?

I would love to visit a tea room - not really a tea drinker, but I find it a lovely bit of Vistorian. Love that kitty print and how fun. The blue map fabric - well, dear - that is my home area printed there. Look for my little town on that map.

What a great way to get the picture enlarged. For that price it was well worth it. It looks like a fun idea for a quilt.
I have to agree about photos. Same about looking in the mirror - it is someone else in there!!
Good luck with all those applique pieces.
