Blocks Are Finished

Today I finished doing the free motion quilting for all of the blocks in the Vintage Miniature Sewing Machines quilt. I don't believe I've shown all the blocks in one post before, and so I'll do that now. I'm hoping I can find the original post I wrote when I embroidered them. I'll link to the name of the machine. If you click on the link, you'll be able to see a photograph of the actual machine, along with a little bit of history about it.

Here are the two blocks I quilted on Monday. The first one is the Singer 20:

Followed by the Little Princess:

That was as far as I got on Monday. Tuesday, I was able to get quite a few finished. First was the Magician:

followed by The Little Belle

Little Dorrit (sorry, couldn't find the link for this one):

and Muller 15.

This morning I had breakfast with Erik, did some grocery shopping, and then came home and quilted the last two blocks. The first was the Casige No. 3

followed by the Casige 2.

So now I'm ready to outline the blocks. I might try doing something fancy in the spaces where the sashings intersect, but I'm not sure. The space is only about an inch and a half square, so I might not have room to do what I want to do. You'll have to wait and see...as will I. As I said, I never know what's going to come out of my needle until I put my foot to the pedal.

Moving right along.........

I don't think I'd ever noticed that they are all chain stitch machines. Cute quilting.

Your vintage machines are just lovely! Wouldn't it be great to have a collection of the actual machines represented?

Love how the thread moves around each block. You've made a lot of progress this week.

Love the quilting and did you do the machine borders by machine or is that part of the original design?

Your FMQ is just great on these blocks! I wouldn't have known what direction to take, once the blocks were all sewn together. The spools and thread tie them all together very well. Great job!

Oh and regarding chain machines, I had the priviledge of working in the "chain gang" department at a now closed but local uniform company while waiting for my MT license from the state boards. Interesting job and I so wished I was into wool way back then. They offered some great prices and grab bags.

Fun to see your project come together. Great FMQ. What's next?

I know how tiring FMQ can be. You did a lot today!

Beautiful job on both the stitching and quiting. I wish I had one of those chain stitch machines in real life. A friend of mine uses one to load her quilts on the longarm.
