Wednesday Finish

This morning I was able to catch up on my housework and finish tying the Salt Water Taffy quilt. When I had it all tied, I figured, what the heck? And so I sewed the binding on by machine too. Now it just needs the hand-sewing and it will be finished! And since I've been working on this one since May of 2012, I'm very glad to have it coming to a close.

Of course, I could not have accomplished this without my furry cheerleader close at hand, urging me on. Kitties like flannel quilts the best.

I had physical therapy this afternoon, but when I came home, I went straight to work doing the hand-sewing on the binding. I'm already about halfway around.

So it feels like a productive day. Tomorrow I have a stay-at-home day, and so I'm hoping to accomplish something on my blocks for the month.

Are you getting ready for the 2014 NewFO Linky Party and Giveaway coming up on December 15th? This is the party to kick off the 2014 season of NewFO's. And if you don't know what a NewFO is, then just click on this button and prepare to be amazed!

Well...maybe being amazed is an overstatement, but it's a lot of fun! Some folks get all weird, nervous, and thirsty about starting new projects and having a lot of UFO's lying around. But here's how I figure it: If it's languishing on your to-do list, it's still a UFO. Am I right about that? Just listen to your Enabler in Chief: The first step to finishing a UFO is to start it! Didn't all your UFO's start as twinkles in your quilter's eye at one point? Enough said, I think.

So get ready for the linky party on December 15th by writing up a blog post about what projects you'd like to start in the new year. Here's an example of the post I wrote last year. You don't have to choose a project for every month, however. Just pick out a few you'd like to start next year and tell us about those. And let me make it perfectly clear right now that this is not the kind of challenge where you have to follow along month-by-month and be there or be left out. No. It is totally up to you how much or how little you participate. You can join us at the party on December 15th or not...and if you decide not, you can still jump in whenever you want during any month of 2014. I told you it was easy, didn't I?

But here's the catch: Join us on December 15th and some lucky duck is going to win this 10-fat quarter bundle of Snowy Winter Wishes by Hoffman Fabrics.

Pretty, huh? Because I figure, you're going to need some fabric for those new projects, right? And you don't have to have a blog to join in. Simply post a collage or an individual picture to our FlickR group showing us what you'd like to start in 2014 and use that URL to link up. That's all it takes and you are entered! Everyone who links up at the party will be eligible to win in the random drawing.

So take a gander at that to-do list. You know there's something you're just dying to start, isn't there? C'mon....live a little!

Yes, flannel quilts are the best - and not just for furries either. I will have to think on my 2014 NewFOs and get ready for the reveal.

Congrats for getting this Salt Water Taffy quilt finished. I guess Smitty is hoping that he'll get to use this one. Oh yummy! I really like Hoffman's Snowy Winter Wishes! I guess I'd better start thinking about my to do list! I've been adding to it all year. Looking forward to another years of NewFO's!

That quilt is a great finish and will be so warm and snug. No wonder Mr Smitty loves it. My poor brain is already reeling from all the quilty ideas running round in it. There is no shortage of potential NewFO's for 2014, no all I need to do is to get work back under control so I can reacquaint myself with my machine.

I'm making my list and checking it twice - oh whoops that was something else. ha ha. your quilt turned out very nice. Now Smitty and Mike will have to fight over it. :) Looking forward to 2014. Thanks for another giveaway.

Your Salt Water Taffy looks mighty warm and snugglely. Can I come share it with Mr. Smitty? I am going to be making more quilts with flannel backs on them in 2014. This winter is starting out so cold I need one NOW. I do love NEW FOs but also need to finish some UFOs from 2013.
