Kitty Tested and Approved

Yesterday I finished sewing the binding onto the Salt Water Taffy quilt, and so that one is history. It isn't my oldest project, but it was pretty darned close. I started it on May 12, 2012 and finished it on December 12, 2013; so, a full 19 months to make such a simple quilt.

Simple is the problem for me because "simple" can easily translate into "boring". Nevertheless, it's a nice size lap quilt...plenty long enough for tall people...and the flannel makes it so warm and soft. I washed mine last night to make it extra soft and fluffy, and it was sure nice to snuggle up under when I got out of bed this morning.

Smitty and Gracie have already thoroughly tested it and declared it good.

They've also contributed some kitty furs for extra softness.

Here, you can see the back. The back was the only fabric I purchased for this quilt. The rest was from scraps collected from various sources.

So whaddaya say?

Linking up to:
Sue weenied out on our walk today because her brothers surprised her by coming into town from far-flung places to attend her retirement party. I'm so sorry I missed it because of the icy roads. We were supposed to walk, but she begged off because she wants to spend time with her brothers. And who can blame her? I laughed when she called me this morning to see if she was going to get the weenie award back.
I told her I'd cut her some slack since I missed the party. I'm a nice guy that way.
So that means a day in my sweats, and you know how much I love a day in my sweats. I have a little bit of housework to do, but I'm going to spend the rest of the day in my sewing room. With leftovers in the fridge for dinner, it's going to be a sew and sew day. What's on your agenda this scary Friday the 13th?

Sounds like a lovely day! I think once I'm through all the holiday junk. (Bah Humbug!) I will look in my scraps of flannel and see if I have anything cute to use for a similar quilt. I think all of the flannel I have is masculine though, because I made 3 denim/flannel blankets for Bruce, my Brother and one of my male rescue friends. Did the kitties get any kind of bonuses for their hard work, inspecting and approving of your quilt.... LOL

Certainly a Whoop-Whoop finish. I'm glad to see Smitty and Gracie take their job so seriously.

Congrats on the finish. I have never made a flannel quilt, but should put one on my list. They look so cozy. Have a great weekend, stay warm!

Whoop Whoop! I wouldn't call this quilt boring at all. I really like it. It looks like Smitty and Gracie won't be cold this winter. Looks like they are claiming this one for themselves. ;)

We love kitty approved quilts at our house, too! I will give you a big WHOOP! WHOOP!

I spend the day with my sewing buddy helping her get her Christmas sewing done!

Well, I've officially lost it, you said Friday the 13th and I said, No, wait, what? and now it's Sat the 14th. Oblivious is such a nice place to live. :)
Love the quilt.

Definitely a Whoop-Whoop! Smitty and Gracie approved, so I do as well. I haven't done anything with flannel yet, but it's on my list. ;)

Whoop Whoop!

Gotta love them sweats days! ;^)

I ended up going to see The Hobbit on Friday the 13th. I was so involved in it, that I didn't realize it was nearly 3 hours long!

The days that I don't leave the house are the best days of the week! Whoop Whoop is right - for your finish too. My new kitty is a quilt lover already... could I love her anymore?
