It's time to announce the winner of the October NewFO Challenge. I always love it when this day comes. Who will it be? I generated a number at random and came up with:
#12--Quiltzyx/Sue
Yahoo! (Did you see how I made up a little poem right there?) Congratulations to Sue, and thanks to all who linked up. It is such great fun to see all your new projects each month. Now, like I always say, don't despair if you didn't win because we'll be right back here on November 30th, stuffed with turkey, and playing for next month's needle nanny. Next month we'll be playing for one of my personal favorites, the quilt block needle nanny.
So be ready with your new projects, finished or not, and come right back here on November 30th to link up. But that's not all, because today I have a
For one thing, I realized this morning that I just passed my 2,000th post!
Unbelievable! I am amazingly verbose! And not for nothing, because it seems like a good excuse to have another giveaway. Do you remember the cool barn quilt blocks from Classic Metal Company? Mark, from Classic Metal Company, was kind and generous enough to sponsor a giveaway a few months back. Here's a picture of the one I have hanging above my garage doors.
You can read about the process we went through to hang it on this post right here (scroll down). I just love my quilt block. It makes me smile every time I drive up. Yes, a quilter lives here. Oh wait, it's me! I'm the quilter! (At my age, it's easy to forget things like that.)
Well, my announcement is this: Mark has generously agreed to give away twelve(!) of his new Barn Quilt Mini's. I've decided to divide the twelve blocks into four winners of three blocks each in a giveaway to be held right here on November 15th. If you visit that link, you can see which blocks are currently available. I'm going to ask you what other designs you'd like to see among future mini blocks. So, take a look and consider the possibilities, then head back here one week from today for all the information about how to win three of your very own. Wouldn't these make great Christmas presents for your favorite quilters?
Whoa. Well, I'm completely tuckered out from all the excitement. How about you? Today I'm hoping to get in a little more sewing, but I have a few less enjoyable tasks to take care of first. The good news is that Mike is feeling better every day. His diet is still pretty bland, which is a bummer for kitchen rat like me (that would be the less svelte version of a "gym rat"). It's even more of a bummer for him since he likes to eat my cooking. We're getting there slowly but surely.

Yeah Mike, for feeling better. Can't wait to hear about him being up and about, eating regular type food.
COngrats on 2000 posts and to Sue for the OCt NewFo. Love those lil barn quilts, but was surprised there wasn't a basket block. With all this excitement I had to check things out quickly.
Glad Mike is recovering nicely. Slwo and steady wins the race.

Classic Metal Mark is amazing! I can't wait until we have another chance to win some of his beautiful handiwork. :D
Great news about Mikes recovery - will he still be able to attend the race?
2000th post makes me want to see how many I've done, may have to check that out. So what a bout a "Jacobs Ladder" block for a different one. Of Course I love the Shoe Fly and the Churn dash too but not as interesting. :)
That's great news about Mike! It will be much better when you can cook up a storm again. Congratulations on reaching 2,000 posts! I must say that I just love reading your posts. I just love those barn quilts! That's a great giveaway! Your Bear's Paw barn quilt block looks wonderful on your garage. You asked what other designs you'd like to see among future mini blocks. I would suggest the following: Broken Dishes, Goose in the Pond, Sawtooth Star, Crown of Thorns, Amish Star and Goose Tracks.
Yay for accomplishing over 2000 posts!!
Will Smitty and Gracie help you celebrate this purrfectly awesome milestone?!
If you remember, I won that beautiful Barn quilt block before, so I know what an awesome giveaway this is!! I see my Lemoyne Star everyday day and smile!!
Susie
Wow! That is a huge accomplishment. Congratulations. I love the barn quilts and want one for my house. I just haven't gotten around to requesting one. Maybe Santa will bring me one this year.
Major Excitement, everyone is home
and getting well, and fire in the fireplace makes it so too. CONGRATS on having the best blog ever. 2000 posts are everything to be excited over too. I think a good old geese tracks or a 9 patch might be neat, I would adore any of the blocks shown too. Meowy to Gracie and SMitty!

Glad that Mike continues to improve. Hope he's back to his normal self by Thanksgiving. It would be a shame if you had to eat his share of the turkey!
