Oh, What a Night!

As I mentioned in one of my recent posts, Mike has been ill with severe abdominal pain. He has a chronic condition of long-standing that has flared up on him. Last night, it landed him in a hospital bed, and it looks like he will be staying for a few days, at least. He got sick on Saturday and despite doing what usually works, his condition did not improve. He has a surgery in his future. The hope is that he will be able to recover from this "episode" first, then have the surgery at some time when it can be done on a less-emergent basis. Doing the surgery when he is feeling better will increase the probability for a good outcome with fewer complications.

I am being intentionally vague to protect his privacy. Those of you who follow me on Facebook have sent your healing thoughts and prayers, and that has been very much appreciated by both of us. The hospital is a quick 15 minutes away, which is a good thing. (Almost nothing is that close to us!) I know that Mike will be having more tests and scans this morning. My plan is to check in with the nurses and then, if it makes sense, I'll head off to the hospital to stay with him. He is in an ICU bed, although he is not considered an ICU patient. He is there because the med/surgery unit was full. Nevertheless, that makes him subject to the more restrictive ICU rules about visitors, etc. Not sure what that means for me beyond his visitors being limited to two at a time, but I'll spend as much time there as I can.

I will try to keep you updated as I know more, but will probably be cutting back on blogging for a few days at least. The NewFO Challenge linky party is due on Thursday, and I will try to get it posted on time. If I don't get it done, just know I'll get it posted as soon as I'm able. I know you're going to understand if it's late.

Well, I am behind in my blog reading and just popped on Feedly and you were at the top of the list so I was unaware of what the two of you have been dealing with - that does not sound like fun, but I am glad to hear that he is being tended to. Hospital stays are never fun, but I'm sending my prayers for a speedy healing for Mike.

Sending you and your husband lots of positive energy and keep my fingers crossed he can go home soon and get strong enough for the operation.
If that has to be done, then better have it under the best possible circumstances.
