Blogger's Quilt Festival: A Day in the Life of Mr. Bear

AmysCreativeSide

Thank's to Amy's Creative Side for hosting this event. I just love an opportunity to show off my favorite quilts! Today I'm going to show you one of my favorite quilts of all time, "A Day in the Life of Mr. Bear". This is an embroidered quilt by designer Tricia Cribbs. I first saw the pattern at a quilt show and it was love at first sight.

I drew out the first stitchery and started on August 16, 2011. This is the largest of the nine stitcheries located in the middle of the quilt.

Little by little over a period of nine months, Mr. Bear's quilt was born. Here are the rest of the individual blocks:

I finished the piecing on May 20, 2012.

Now I suppose you're wondering about that gorgeous quilting. The quilting was done by Marcia at Marcia's Crafty Sewing & Quilting.  I had admired Marcia's beautiful quilting many times on her blog, and after winning a discount in a giveaway I shipped Mr. Bear off to Wisconsion for her to work her quilting magic. She did a fabulous job, and I couldn't have been happier with the results. Here are a few detailed shots of Marcia's beautiful work.

And here's how Mr. Bear's quilt looks from the back.

I hope you like my quilt. Now, head on back there to the show and give my fellow participants some quilty love! Thanks for stopping by today!

This must have been just before I began following your blog - what a treasure Barbara!
I am looking through some of your finishes before I quilt the background areas of my embroidered blocks, deciding whether I should closely outline my stitching or just doodle in some background.
