Salsa, but No Dancing

The good news this morning is that I have harvested enough tomatoes from my greenhouse to make a batch of salsa.  Since we've been crying in our tortilla chips ever since we used the final jar from last year's harvest, we're feeling like dancing.

But not so fast.

Yesterday I saw my pain specialist about my pesky knee pain.  I was hoping she could work magic and make it stop hurting.  Last night I was thinking, "Hey, you know what?  I do think my knee is better."  As it turns out, it was merely wishful thinking...or the placebo effect of having someone say, "Oh there, there.  That is a bad owie, isn't it?"  There were no kisses involved, but tenderness and sympathy go a long way.  Once that all wore off (overnight), I awakened with as much knee pain as ever.  Bummer.

We left it with her calling around to figure out if I needed to return to the same orthopedist I saw this past spring, or whether I needed to see their knee replacement specialist.  Yes, I'm afraid the knee replacement I've been wishing away for at least ten years is finally going to have its way with my knee.  This is not for sure and certain yet, and I may still get another reprieve.  But, honestly, how much longer can this go on?  Sigh.

Allow me to lighten the mood with this new video from Simon's Cat.  It's Smitty and Gracie to a tee.

If one is not able to laugh, then one's sanity is lost.  That's my motto.

Today I'll drown my sorrows in the Yard Art quilt.  And maybe I'll vacuum the sewing room.  It could be worse.  I could be getting a knee surgery right now, right?  But I'm not.  No use "borrowing trouble" as my mother used to say.

Just now I decided to look up that phrase to see if it meant what I think it means.  Here is what it says in The Free Dictionary:

[T]o worry needlessly; to make trouble for oneself. Worrying too much about death is just borrowing trouble. Do not get involved with politics. That's borrowing trouble.
It makes me laugh to think that "getting involved with politics" would be used in the same context that "worrying over a potential knee replacement" is.  Politics = Knee Replacement. Enough said, I think.

As I said, if one is not able to laugh, then one's sanity is lost.  That's still my motto.

Those are beautiful tomatoes! We have absolutely nothing for a garden this year due to the awful cold/rainy Spring. Our friends did the plant/plant again 'thing' and we decided to do the farmers' market 'thing...LOL! Sorry 'bout the knee, though...ugh! Maybe it's just the weather??!!!??? Hugs....

Everyone I know that has had a knee replacement is MUCH happier after it is done.

Do the salsa, but leave the dancing out. Yes, I know those who had knee replacement, too - and they are happier. Not that I am promoting surgery (ugh), but I am promoting HAPPY.

Not good news about your knee, BUT everyone I have ever spoken to who has had something replaced said it was much easier and less painful than expected, and the results were fantastic, they just wish they had done it sooner!

Love love love Simon's Cat, I had never seen it before so now I have spent most of the morning watching every episode there is :)

I sent the link to my husband and he loved it too :) Then I told my daughter about it (she is 14 and home sick from school today so I thought it would cheer her up), but she has already seen them all and it was old news to her but she thinks they are brilliant too :)

"Owie" is right! But maybe it it better to just go ahead a bite the bullet. Now there's one for you to look up the meaning. I have visions of someone back in the old west having to have knee surgery and the Doc gives him a bullet to bite on to keep from screaming.... oh, so maybe that wasn't a good visual to put in your head right now..... anyway, loved the Simon video!!!! =^..^=

Go for it! I'm in a cast right now from the heel surgery that I put off for many years. Now that the surgery is behind me, I'm wishing that I had plucked up the courage years ago. A few months of discomfort will be so worth it for pain free mobility in the future. The longer you put it off, the bigger and scarier it grows in your mind. :)

Thanks for the laugh, that cartoon was cute. If knee surgery = politics nothing will get done, you'll stay in pain and anything that actually does happen will probably be more painful.

I'm sorry to hear about your knee problems. But, if surgery will make it better, get-er-done. You and Sue have more miles to walk and more hiking to do with Mike. At least you have a good support system to help you. Some days you just have to laugh because it's too late to cry (my mother's words, probably not original but they ring in my ears every now and then).

Mmm fresh salsa yummy. I love the Simom's cat animations they are so much fun and that one definitely reminds me of Gracie and Smitty. I'm sorry your knee is so painful, and it probably is nearly time for the replacement. I've nursed quite a lot of people who have had them and they all found the outcome really good.

Ohhhh, gosh I hope your knee feels better soon....I am swigging glucosamine every day to keep mine OK for a while longer. So far it is working. Warm hugs to you, my friend.

I know lots of people that have had recent knee replacements and it's so much better than it used to be. One girl in our office has already had two hip replacements too and she came back better than new.

Knee pain is no fun. I had both hips replaced last year. It was SOOOOOOOO worth it. Life is a whole different ball of wax now. I can move without fear that each step is literally painful. That said, the best thing I have found, post-surgery, are the Yoga classes at the Y. While the hip replacement "fixed" the arthritis in the hips, the arthritis in the spine and knees remains. Yoga has made a HUGE difference in dealing with that pain. Stretching overly tight muscles has increased my strength, balance, flexibility, and mobility, not to mention made me less grouchy. Good luck with the knee. Love reading your blog!

Sorry the knee is no better.

My 14 year old tells me that sanity is over-rated.

I think you've been hanging out with too many Poisonous Wolf Peaches and they are why your knee is rebelling.

That's my story & I'm sticking to it.

Thanks for the new Simon! Love those little flicks. :D
