Ta Da!

Today I finished quilting and binding the Hello Sun/You Are My Sunshine quilt.  Hooray!

I'm loving how the rainbow binding looks, thanks to all of you and your impeccable taste about such things. If I hadn't asked you a few weeks ago, I probably would have gone the safe route and used that same yellow from the inner border.  Of course, I still need to hand sew the binding.

Here's how it looks from the back.  It's a little hard to see the quilting.  I stippled around the outer border and stitched-in-the-ditch around the inner border and all of the stars.

I tried bumping up the contrast a little bit so the stitching would stand out better, but that's as good as it gets. This next image is a little closer up, and maybe you can get a better idea of how it looks.  Either way, I think the back fabric is just right for this quilt.

I did this sort of swirl in the pinwheel cornerstones.

Those pinwheels are made from the triangles I cut from the stars when I made the flying geese.  And here are the individual blocks.

This quilt was made from the Hello Sun Quilt Along designed by April Mae Designs at Making Ends Meet. She's currently posting the blocks for her newest Quilt Along, Hello Moon.  Those blocks are every bit as cute as the Hello Sun blocks.  You can find them right here.  The July block was just posted, and I'm excited to get started on it.

This is the largest quilt I've ever quilted on my domestic sewing machine, and I'm pretty darned proud of myself for quilting it on my own.  The new sewing machine is making me very happy in that regard.

So now I'm at that post quilt finish let down.

I posted this image on Cat Patches' Facebook page yesterday.  It definitely fits right now.  Thanks to Quiltville for that share.

So with that, I guess I'll go try to find something constructive to do.

It came out really fantastic! I really love the binding, too. How can you, the lady who always has bunches of projects going, be down? You should be doing the Snoopy dance, that you finished another one! I'm quite sure you will be right as rain tomorrow!

Haha! So cute that is! And the "something constructive" would be, what else, start another quilt! :-)

Super job! And that rainbow binding is the perfect finish. Is there ever really a moment when we quilters don't know what to do next??

I just love the way this turned out. The binding fabric is just perfect for it. I need to get me some yardage of that one if you'd be so kind as to tell me what it is.
