What's a Day Without Whining?

So here's the deal.  Yesterday, I was packing my stuff in the RV, and I needed to open the slides so that I could move around inside.  I always check for clearance outside just to satisfy my nervous self.  It's impossible to see anything when I'm inside the RV operating the switches.  Satisfied that nothing was going to bang into anything else, I opened the slides.  First slide, check.  Second slide, check.  Third slide.  It was operating fine...no funny noises...no lugging or grinding, when suddenly there was a sort of a lurch and the distinct sound of something metal hitting the concrete outside.  "What the F@#K?"  I exclaimed, all lady like, to no one in particular.  It was something having to do with the awning that covers the tops of the slides.  It decided to break for no apparent reason other than obstinance.

I took a picture of it and texted it to Mike with the message to "Call me".  It's of no urgency to fix it, but it does have to be fixed eventually.  Okay, no big deal.  When you own an RV, you are used to such things.  You know that old expression "A boat is a hole in the water into which you pour money"?  Well, I'm here to tell you that we have a boat AND an RV, and the RV is by far the costlier and more irritating of the two.

So then this morning, I'm packing the last of my stuff, and I open my sliding closet door which is held in place by a plastic clip when we go down the road.  When I released said clip, it broke off in my hand.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.  It's the second time we've replaced this piece that seems to break from simply operating it for its intended usage.  Again, there is no urgency to fix it.  We can wedge the door closed until we can replace the piece, but geez.

Okay, that's all.  Please resume your regular activities.

Ha!  As if!

I'm laughing out loud! And I'm not sure if it's from the lady-like language (said to no one in particular) or if it's the "as if". Get outta dodge already, and have a good weekend. Just don't break anything else.

I love that "all lady like" swearing! And to think that when we were shopping for our trailer they all told me that the slide outs never, ever break. :-P (We went without -- I could just see myself opening it into something)

Why do we have to have days like that? Hope your "whine" did you some good.

Geezy Peezy! I would've said a longer string of ladylike stuff myself. ;^)

Safe travels!

LOL. Yeah, I'm lady like, just like that sometimes too. Ha Ha! Sometimes it's the little things that really do get you, isn't it? Sorry your RV is being so obstinate. I hope the trip is fun!

Wow if that's what curves has done for you I must join too! Have a great trip and I hope there's no more reasons for ladylike swearing.

There's something wrong with a day when WTF doesn't pass my lips, the intensity is the true measure of the day.

"All ladylike" good one!

Hope things went better for you after your post.

My older sister and hubby had a motorhome for years. They seemed to have problems off and on. I bet they would appreciate your post.

My day at the end was one I could whine about as well. Can't find the (stupid, blankity-blank) eye drops for the kittens. Ugh. Will start looking now (swear I put it in a certain spot) and then if I can't find it will have to call my vet, drive 20mn each way and get more. Plus buy it.

Now that doesn't sound that bad, except I need to be a a friend's house at 12:30 to help serve the food for her daughter's grad party and then my nephew, wife, son and 150# great dane will be here at 5pm. (all of our daughters are home this weekend, so there will be nine people here, plus pets) Unexpected last-minute trip. They want to see my mom before she passes away. (she is 96 and just sort of fading, day by day).

Say a prayer for me whoever reads this besides you that I find the cat meds and the days ends up a good one.

Sorry to hear that you had troubles with your slides. We live full-time in our RV and only once, after a blow-out have we had trouble with our slides. Maybe your RV would just like you to take it out more often. ;-)

I totally relate to the "check it, check it and check it again" mentality....I only wish it worked in reverse, where we remembered to check 'em BEFORE WE SLIDE 'em IN, too. Yeah, more'n once have we caught the stray broom or something in there...

I'm glad that crunch was NOT slide hitting cement, that would sure be ugly. And warrant a DOUBLE %^*(.

And that stupid plastic clip that broke? Heck yeah, that thing breaks with regularity in our camper. Best news is they come in sets of two, so once you install the new one, you can put the spare in a special place...you know the one, where you'll remember it (when it's a cold day in a hot place). We replaced ours TWICE and still have no idea where the spares are. I really don't understand how ANYthing can (and does) get lost in a 400 square foot space. Aggravatin' ain't it? Hopefully, you're all squared away and safely on the road...well, stopped for the night anyway.

You are too funny but I can feel your pain - we have one of those holes in the water. Today is the first day of bass season and so far, cross everything we have, everything is working fine BUT last year on the first day of the season it was too. Notice is sais WAS. After all of the trial runs and tests and such, last year it as we say "pooped to bed" the first day of the season, first tournament. Now we are not like the pros and don't have extras. Luckily, it didn't cost much. So I am sitting here holding my breath until 5 pm today to see what broke today. Did I say, I am an optimistic person, HA.
