Two Down

This morning, I saw and embroidered until I finished the second of the Wonky Houses.  These are tiny little blocks and so they go pretty fast.

This next one is the one I finished over the weekend.  The picture I posted from my phone was so awful that I thought I'd show it to you again.  I really hate phone pictures, but sometimes it's all you have.

Here they are together, not that they look any different that way.

If you like this pattern, Jenny of Elefantz is running it for free again during the month of June.  You can see her post about it right here.  I obtained the pattern when she ran it originally, but then she took it down, and it was unavailable as far as I could tell.  If you like it, get it now.  I don't get the feeling it will be posted forever.

It's that wonderful time of year when both cherries and apricots are in season, and so this afternoon, I'm going to whomp up my favorite Apricot-Cherry Upside Down Mini Cakes.  I did a search of my blog to see if I'd posted the recipe before.  I have, and here is the link just to make things easier.

These are so simple to make and so good.  Having a cherry pitter is definitely an advantage, although there are only 16 cherries to pit, so it isn't too bad. And just so you know I'm not kidding about how good these are, I've gushed about them on my blog no less than three times--today makes four.  Really.  They are scrumptious.  The recipe is from Cooking Light, and so they won't even kill your diet....unless you eat all four of them by yourself....a distinct possibility.

For my whine of the day, I've noticed my beloved Nikon Coolpix 9100S camera is making these smudges on my images.  I first noticed it in one of my beach images from over the weekend.  You can see it in that first image I've posted above.

This image is just some clouds that I took out of my window...not the best choice of a subject, I suppose. I wanted something with a white background.  Do you suppose a sheet of white paper might have been a better choice?  Nah.  Anyway...I've cleaned the lens, and still the smudges persist.  I'm thinking they might be on the image sensor, which means a trip to the camera spa for my camera.  Yikes.  I'm not sure I can go on living without it.  Anybody have any other ideas?

I had that happen when my camera was new. I had t send it back to the factory to be cleaned. Nothing I did would fix it.

I need to have mine looked at too, I think taking it out on the salt water doesn't help and it needs to be cleaned from the inside.

Had thr same problem with my Canon Ixus and they told me a repair would have costs almost as much as the camera itself did, was on the inside of the lense...since I couldn't afford a repair or a new camera, I bought a used Sony on Ebay. It serves it's purpose but I liked my old one better lol!

Yep, that's what we in DSLR-land call "dust". Tiny specks of dust that land on the sensor and make our lives miserable. The price we pay for interchangeable lenses. There are products on the market that supposedly help us clean this, but I've used a few to no avail. It shows up on white backgrounds the most - you won't notice it on darker backgrounds. If it really bugs you, you have three options: 1. Clean your sensor; 2. Avoid white backgrounds; or 3. Buy a new camera.

I was going to be really cheeky and say clean your window, but thought better of it ;)

Nice job on the newest Wonky house!

Hmmm, I don't think I've ever had smudges on my Coolpix - any of them - usually any spots are on my windshield as I have a terrible habit of shooting while driving. And my big Nikon cleans the sensor every time I turn it on. Hope it isn't too much of a hassle to have it fixed.

Love the wonky houses. Quick get your camera fixed whilst you have those yummy mini cakes. They'll help soothe your nerves whilst it's at the camera spa.

The blocks look great. You've really been moving on that project.

I have the same "spots" on my Canon. Usually they aren't noticeable, so I ignore them. If they do cause a problem, I can usually use the clone tool in Photoshop elements to "hide" them.
