May Goal Setting

Time to decide on my monthly goal for:

This month I'm going to quilt and bind the Divine Promises quilt.  Most of you know this as the Promises and Borders quilt that was a free BOM over a Jenny of Elefantz.  Jenny was kind enough to leave the free pattern up on her blog permanently.

This quilt is sandwiched and ready for quilting.  I'm going to try a motif I found several months ago called the Loopy Daisy and Heart Leaf.  There is a video showing how to do it at the Happy Quilting blog.  It seems like a perfect design for this quilt.  Once it's quilted, I'll bind it and be finished with it once and for all.

Also, it's time to think about the progress I made on my April goals and set some new ones for:

Never Too Hot to Stitch!

My April goals included:

1.  Finishing the Binding on the Plain and Simple Amish sampler.  Complete!

2.  A Doll Quilt for the April Doll Quilt Swap.  Complete!

3.  Finishing the Line Dancing wallhanging.  Complete!

4.  Starting my April NewFO Project, the Hobo Quilt.  (My goal was to do the first five blocks.)  Complete!

5.  Catch up on the posted blocks for the Hello Moon QAL.  Complete!

6.  Complete the January block for the Folk Art Cats quilt.  Complete!

7.  Complete the next door block for the Doors of Ireland quilt.  In process.  (At least I picked the door.)

8.  Put borders on the completed embroidery blocks for the Gardener's Journal quilt.  No progress.

So that brings me to my May goals, and the first three are obvious.

Non-Negotiable:  Quilt and Bind the Divine Promises quilt.

Non-Negotiable:  Make the next door block for the Doors of Ireland quilt.

Non-Negotiable:  Put borders on the completed embroidery blocks for the Gardener's Journal quilt.

Non-Negotiable:  Start my May NewFO Project, which is the Quiltmaker's Garden, published in five parts in Quiltmaker magazine last year.

Non-Negotiable:  Make a doll quilt for my partner for the May Doll Quilt Swap.

Gee, I'm not a very good negotiator, am I?  Maybe I'll try being a little more reasonable from here on.

Optional:  Make the four corner star blocks for the Love Me, Love My Cat quilt.

Optional:  Add three more rows to the Salt Water Taffy flannel scrap quilt.

Of course, there are always other blocks that get squeezed in here and there, including my Block Lotto block, my guild block, my Rainbow Scraps block, and hopefully, the Hello Moon May block.  It's a tall order.  Think I can get it done?

Love the diversity on your list - it will keep you from getting bored. May is a long month, so yes you can!

Wow - that is a huge order for one little month! But with your killer organization skills, not to mention your two lovely assistants, you'll probably have a day or two to spare :*)

Yowser! That's a lot of stuff to accomplish in one short month of which the next ten days are promised sunshine! Good luck with all these goals ... as for me I have no other goals than to finish that wedding quilt and maybe get started on the bridal shower project.

You did very well in April with your goals. I feel sure most of those May goals will be nailed with or without the sunshine. Good luck and happy sewing.

Good job on all those finishes! And I think you'll do good on this month's list too.

However, I refuse to "...just lick on the buttons to the linky parties...". I'm at work right now, and have no idea where this keyboard & monitor have been!

You had a very productive April and I'm sure you will accomplish much in May, although with the warmer weather I have a feeling you and Mr S are going to be outside a lot more!
