Making Progress

Find my giveaway by clicking right here!

It was another very windy day here today.  The temperatures are quite warm, but the wind makes it less than pleasant to be outside.  The wind was supposed to have died down today, but it did not.  Maybe tomorrow.  In any case, there is no rain in the forecast as far as the eye can see, and it feels very much like summer.  That's okay by me.

I slugged around about half the day, but eventually made my way into the sewing room where I made pretty good progress getting the first three sections for the Gardener's Journal quilt sewn together.  Here is the first section:

I'm not very happy with how crowded into the space the embroidered blocks are.  It makes me wonder if my copy settings were slightly enlarged when I copied the motifs from the pattern book.  The embroidery in the next section seems less crowded.  Oh well.  I'm not going to be able to do anything about it now...unless I want to redo all of the embroidery...which I do not.

Here is what I have of the second section:

The first section was quite a bit more complicated than the second and third, and so I'm feeling more optimistic about getting this done.  I'm hoping to have more time to work on it tomorrow and Tuesday.  If so, I think that will be enough time to finish up these sections.

And now, I'm going to get in the shower and get ready for my birthday dinner out tonight.  We are going to the Portland City Grill, which has one of the best views in downtown Portland.  Many years ago we went there (when it was called Atwater's) on my Cinco de Mayo birthday, which fell on a Friday night that year.  They shot off fireworks over the Willamette River, and from our perch above the city, we had a spectacular view.  This being Sunday, I'm hoping for a repeat event.  (We've gone other years during the work week, and no fireworks.  Sigh.)  Keeping my fingers crossed, anyway.  Fireworks or no, it is always a lovely evening.  I'll tell you about it tomorrow.

I hope your weekend was perfect.  Mine could not have been better.

Combine windy, a quick rain and a cat perched in an open window and you get one very angry cat. Ms Cha Cha Cat was quite insulted!

Enjoy your birthday dinner. I'm crossing my fingers you get the firework show.

The Gardener's Journal is coming together nicely. I do see what you mean about the one section being sort of squished - oh well, the garden got a bit overgrown I suppose. ;^)
