Floored

So, it's nearly 11:00 a.m. and the floor guys are just now showing up.  Oy.  We're on contractor time, I guess.  That would make it 11:00 a.m. CDT (Contractor Daylight Time).  When this was originally scheduled, the guy told me they could have it all done in one day.  I'm seriously doubting that at this point.  It doesn't matter, but it's annoying when things don't go off as expected.

We had a lovely Mother's Day dinner yesterday.  I even managed to get everything on the table at the same time, although I tried my hardest to forget to rewarm the green beans again.  I remembered it in a nick of time.  Erik and Mae showed up with a nice bouquet of flowers, which was very nice of them.

There are no pictures from the evening, other than that.  Sometimes I like to give my family the impression that they mean more to me than simply being fodder for my blog.  And I'm acutely sensitive that my effort to document life here at the Three Cats Ranch doesn't become an intrusion into the natural flow of life.

I did manage to get some sewing time in yesterday.  Earlier in the day, I mapped out a little schedule for myself of when certain things needed to be done.  It was a great way to keep on track, and not yield to panic.  So I got to work sewing together the Love Me, Love My Cat quilt top.  My first task was to trim the embroidered quilt blocks to 9 1/2-inch squares, and then lay them out the way I wanted them.  I just stuck to the way the pattern had them laid out.

Then I added the sashing.

As I write this, I have the inner border sewn to the right and left side, and I'm just about to go add it to the top and bottom.  Then there is one more outer border, and it will be finished! Hoo! Ray!

I've mentioned before that I'm trying to line the walls of my two stairwells with cat quilts.  I believe this one is going to fill in the one large space remaining on one of the walls.  It will be the first wall to actually be filled with quilts.  My goal is to quilt and bind this one next month, and then I'll be able to hang it and show you the fully quilt-covered stairwell.

Once that one is finished, I'm going to start free motion quilting the Divine Promises quilt.

Since I'm essentially locked in the basement for the day, I ought to get plenty accomplished!

Love both quilts, it's always so much fun when a lot is accomplished in a day.

Love your "Love Me, Love My Cat" quilt. I love anything Redwork, having cats on it is just a plus. Can't wait to see it hanging on your wall.

When we had foundation work done, they has to break two holes inside the house! Even though we covered every thing in plastic and old sheets, I am still cleaning up concrete dust. Good luck!

I think I will send a link to this one to my friend, the contractor! Love that CDT!!!

Oooh, pretty flowers from Eric & Mae. You have my permission to keep them (E & M, not the flowers. Those you may toss when their time has passed)

I like how the sashings match the star "arms" - very nice!
