A New Way to Follow: Clarification

This morning I spent some time messing with Facebook badges.  With Google Reader going away, I'm trying to provide several different ways to follow along.  Now, posts will appear on Cat Patches' Facebook page, and I'll also share other content that I think will interest you.  If you want to, just click on the button on my left side bar.  It's taken quite a bit of "messing-with", but I think it's working the way I want it to.  And if you're so inclined, you can follow Doll Quilters Monthly the same way.  Simply visit the Doll Quilters Monthly blog, and click on the button in the right side bar to like Doll Quilters Monthly on Facebook.

This post has been updated to say that some folks have expressed concern that they don't use Facebook, and they wonder if that will be the only way to follow.  The answer is that if you are not a Facebook user, you have nothing to worry about.  Nothing about my blog will change whatsoever, except that those who do enjoy using Facebook will now be able to see Cat Patches in their news feed on Facebook.  If you follow some other way (i.e., via a reader, RSS feed, email, etc.), nothing will change for you whatsoever.  Even if you are using Facebook, there is no requirement that anyone like the page.  It will not show up in your news feed unless you specifically go to the Cat Patches Facebook page and "like" it.

Also, I want to say that I completely understand those who have no interest in Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or the many other social media platforms available.  To engage in any sort of social media is time consuming, and one needs to set priorities and limits.  Aside from blogging, the only one I regularly participate in is Facebook.  Even with that, it took me a long time to warm up to Facebook.  I think I opened my page in 2010, but I've only started posting regularly in the past six months or so.

I like to refer to Facebook as "Faceborg" because, like cats, resistance is futile.  At least it is for me.

And if you never watched Star Trek:  The Next Generation, that reference will make no sense to you whatsoever.  Don't worry.  Life will go on as usual, and none of us will be the wiser for it.  Keep calm and sew on.

When I signed up for bloglovin it automatically sends a link to FB to both my personal acct and my PAGE, so I don't have to do it anymore :)

I also have no interest in FB, Twitter, etc. Does this mean we won't get to visit you anymore? :(

Ill have to like you and need to make a fb page for my blog too. I did join bloglovin but wont give up my next button until it stops working. For those not familiar with fb just dive in. The waters not too deep and if you ignore all the inimportant stuff that pops up is a great TOOL to use. I never thought I be on twitter but for almost 2years I take part in a weekly quilt chat. Go figure. Oh and instagram is my #1 love can post there and connect to 5 different social medias including my blog.

I'm not on Facebook but now that my grandsons have moved away with my darling daughter, I wonder if I should -- my SIL posts regularly so I might learn something (That's the reason my 79yo MIL is on -- she finds out what her grand-children are up to!!)
