Whoo Hoo! It's Wednesday!

Since I've been so good about doing my Curves diet and workout, I've designated Wednesday as "Whoo Hoo Wednesday" since it's the day I get to stay home and spend the whole day doing whatever I want.  As much as possible, I keep things cleared off my calendar that day so that I can stay in my PJ's as long as possible.  And speaking of diet and workout things, I checked in with my Curves coach yesterday.  Last week I lost 2 1/2 pounds.  Whoo Hoo!  See?  Whoo Hoo works for lots of things!  Anyway, that makes a total weight loss of 7 pounds after 5 weeks on the diet.

For as much as I whine and complain about going to work out, I'll say I'm feeling better than I was before.  That's not to say that I was feeling bad before, but I was dealing with a morning backache, and I wasn't sleeping well because my neck was bothering me as well.  Both things have improved, and I'm just feeling more energetic in general.  And, bonus! My jeans are less snug, which makes the whole world appear more colorful (given that now I can breathe despite being fully clothed).

After going to Curves yesterday, I went to the grocery store, and then came home and finished up the top for my March doll quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap.  Here's a peek:

Today I'm hoping to get it quilted and also machine-sew the binding.  It's getting close to being finished now, and so it will be winging its way across the pond to Sweden by the end of the week.  I'm hoping so, anyway.

Also yesterday, my pain specialist called with the results of the MRI.  Turns out I have a tear in the lateral meniscus of my knee.  This is no doubt a result of the degenerative process going on in general.  (Yes, as a matter of fact, I am a degenerate.)  I'm going to check in with an orthopedic surgeon next Friday the 15th to see what he has to say about it.  Not sure whether it makes sense to have a surgery at this point, but I'm going to talk to him about it anyway.  I've already had one unsuccessful surgery on the same knee, and so I'm not anxious to go under the knife unless he thinks he can improve things.  We'll see.  For now, the knee is fine.  I did some internet research about it this morning, and it could be that just exercising more could improve my symptoms...although that won't fix the tear.

So what's going on in your world on Wednesday?  It's raining again here.  Same old, same old weather wise. Smitty is bored.

Sorry to 'hear' of the knee situation. Hard to know sometimes what is the best direction. No rain here.....sun is shining after the snow storm of yesterday!!! No sewing here....prepping for a workshop I'm doing in April. Keeps me "on my toes"!! Like how your project is looking!!! Hugs, Doreen

Woo-hoo day indeed, except for the news re the knee. I hope an exercise regimen can do the trick. Surgery is no fun, especially the recovery time. Pulling together our tax info today so no stitching. Did take a break and cut out the BOM for guild next week. And the rain continues ...

Whoohoo! Any weight loss is worth celebrating. Keep up the good work. Sorry to hear about your knee. Did the dr suggest physical therapy? I had a ligament tear in my elbow and dr said surgery unless PT helped it, and after PT I feel good as new. I won't be playing tennis again, but that's ok.

Whoo Hoo on the weight loss and a free day to play! I would go with exercise/PT before surgery - I'm with you on the bad knee surgeries - arughhh! The snow storm is to roll in here tonight and the next couple of days - so same old, same old. But I have projects lined up.

Great Job!!! on losing 2.5 pounds, that is absolutely fantastic!! Congrats!!
Now about your knee, I've been there and done that. In fact, I've had it happen 3 times to one knee and twice to the other. Surgery would help a lot. But losing weight will also help so it shouldn't tear any faster, but there is still a chance it will continue to tear. I've now had bilateral total knee replacement just over a year ago. (Basically it means I had both knees replaced completely). Please be careful what exercises you do with your knee. I don't want you to hurt more.

Of course you're a degenerate, it's why I like you so much. Sorry about the knee, I thought you were going to say exercise can make it worse, so you can keep going and losing weight should help.

It seems that there are a lot of us "degenerates" out there....LOL. I'm trying to get more exercise, but boy do the ole knees hurt. Hope yours improve. Moses says "Hi, Smitty! The sun came out here, so I'm off to play!"

Congratulations! You're getting great results. I was only down a pound this week, but I'm still happy with the results.

Sorry to hear about your knee! I too have/had knee issues. Mine too degenerative. Nothing bad that needs surgery though. Went to pt about six times up until the end of the year - it didn't really help. Ended up joining a new fitness club (went to Jazzercise which I loved but the twisting and turning was making my knee go out). Have gone to the club along with having a trainer (had no idea what to do there) and I am feeling great. My knees no longer go out and can even do a high-inpact Jazzercise class no problem. I am so thankful and amazed that I can feel so good.

Poor Smitty being bored. Maybe your weather isn't good enough for him to wander outside. Lord knows here no cat would volunteer to be outside. We got about nine inches of now on Tuesday. Enough to call a snow day. There were lots of hoots and hollars here to celebrate that!

I have been working on my quilt squares thinking when this next one is done I will send a pic. It's #7 of 20 so I have a ways to go. I do enjoy doing it first thing in the morning. Wonder where I got that idea.... :)

Continued thanks for the wonderful blog. It's my fave!!

Congrats on the diet/workout success! You've been doing so well. Sorry about the diagnoses on the knee, hopefully the surgeon will have good news.
