Super Sunday Sewing

If you're here for the January linky party, click right here.

Our weather was back to the Oregon gloom today.  I'm glad we got out and worked in the greenhouse yesterday.  After 35 years living in Oregon, we know better than to waste a day of sunshine in February.

We just about ran the wheels off the cat yesterday.

We don't have to run the wheels off Gracie.  Cats of her breeding know the best place to be, rain or shine.

Now here's something interesting:  This article appeared in today's Seattle Times.  It says that four of the six top metro areas for cat ownership are in the Pacific Northwest.  Here's the graphic that accompanied the article.

The Seattle Times as making hay out of being sixth on the list; but I just want to point out that Portland is #4. And we're certainly doing our share here at the Three Cats Ranch.  It's good to know that we are not letting our city down.  It's a good thing to know on Superbowl Sunday because you never know when there's going to be some kind of trophy at stake.

Despite having his wheels run off yesterday, Smitty was still up for helping me in the sewing room.  Today, I worked on my piece for the It's All About Me Blog Hop.

My day is February 21st, so it's time to get going on this piece.  I think I auditioned every fabric and every embellishment in my sewing room.  I had a lot of ideas about this piece, and so it took me a bit to narrow my focus.

Once I got going on it, it all came together.  All the fusing is done now, but I still need to do the top-stitching, quilting, and binding.  I can't show it to you, but I'll give you a little peek.

Once I had all the fusing finished, I was a little tired of looking at it, so I set it aside.  I'll work on it some more tomorrow.

After that, I picked around in my scraps for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

This month's color is purple, and I selected these purples for my new little ladies to wear.

That's about it from me today.  I'm linking up to Scrap Happy Saturday.

Interesting cat and dog stat's. I am a little surprised that DFW didn't get top on the dog one. I think everyone around here has a dog! I was visiting everyone tonight that visiting me during the week. So I came back by again! I am going now to check out that Rainbow Color challenge.
Oh before I go let me tell you my funny cat story...we woke up to the cat in the middle of the bed chasing his tail. He'd stop a minute and rest and start again! Nutty!
Have a great week,
Sherry

Hehe, Rochester, NY is second - guess where we lived before coming to Oregon! Can vouch for the folks we know back there having cats, especially our kids and their friends.

The All about Me quilt is going to be cute. Love the purples! I have been appliqueing in the hoop all week and finished tonight. 24 blocks with a 7 leaf sprig, 11 large flowers and 5 small. I am so ready to put Starlight, Starbright to bed.

Hmmm, I wonder how they know? I guess the veterinarians gave up the numbers. Interesting on the placement too, now you can have a west coast vs east coast catabowl. This year west wins.

I lived in Rochester, NY for 10 years. I had a lot of friends with cats. You are stuck indoors for 6 months because of the Winters and an indoor pet really works in that kind of situation. But still, they came in second when they are a very small city and some of the others are big cities? Wow.

Your cats are so cute. Thanks for the stats. It was interesting, but begs the question WHY? that area. Your purple fabrix are looking good. I'm known as the Purple Princess in my area, so if you need any more, just holler -- I've got a big space just dedicated to purples of all kinds!

Awwww, poor Smitty... all tuckered out. Interesting stats. I love the idea of the "all about me" quilt, but am bummed it's full. Can't seem to find the pattern, I guess since it's full... Oh well. Can't wait to see what you do with it! Good to see him back on duty! Oooohhh.... Puurrrrrrrple! Pretty!

Fascinating stats on the cat and dog ownership. If they'd done a possum stat, Alabama would have been on the map. Haha! J/K! I love your purples!!! And I can't wait to see your final project, either! :)

Holy Whisker Mittens! That's what *I'm* going to say from now on when I'm excited!!! I think this year I'm going to try doing a mini garden (herbs and cherry tomatoes) from a shoe bag and hang it off the iron porch rails. That way I can keep a good eye on it, it's up and away from varmints, and within easy reach of the kitchen! We'll see. It's really kind of a cool idea, if I can get it to work!! You'll know if I do ... I'll let out a loud, "Holy Whisker Mittens!!" :)

Hmmm, maybe there are more cats in the Northwest & Northeast because it's colder there? Making more indoor/countable kitties? Who knows. lol

What a fun pattern - It's All About Me! Looks like it will be a hoot. :)

Great purples for the little ladies this month.

Love your purples! Very pretty.

Sunday I'd have been on the floor right next to Smitty. It was definitely a nap day at this house.

Interesting facts. We moved here from Tulsa, OK, and I lived in Longview, TX in first grade, and my mother is from Tyler, TX. Except for a few months, after I moved out on my own, I've had at least one dog. We have 2 dogs now, one for each hand (petting).
