Two Blocks and a Bow Tie

Look for the November NewFO Linky Party and Giveaway right here.

Today I completed two blocks.  The first is for my partner in the Block Swap Adventure.  Thank you to Linda who has decided to close down the Block Swap Adventure after this month.  That makes this my last block in the Block Swap Adventure.  I don't think my partner reads my blog, so I think I'm safe posting it here.  She asked for something red, white, and black, but didn't have a preference about the block.  Since she lives in Louisiana, I chose the "Louisiana" block, which can be found right here.  This was a fun and easy block to make, and it measures 12 ½ inches:

The next block is for the We Bee Learning Block Bee.  This month, we were asked to make the block for the Box Quilt, which can be found right here.  This block is ordinarily made with two different values of each color, but we were asked to make it in four bright solids with a white background.  This is what I came up with:

This isn't a difficult block to make, but you have to pay attention when you make the little flying geese units so that you get the right colors on the right sides.

Finally, I finished the machine quilting on my Bow Tie Bonanza quilt.  This is the quilt that was made for my month in the We Bee Learning Block Bee.  When last I talked about this quilt, I was trying to make up my mind how to quilt the border.  I had decided on straight lines, but nothing else.  I had different ideas about how to make the straight lines meet up in the cornerstones, but finally settled on this idea.  I didn't realize it until after it was quilted, but it formed little bow ties in each cornerstone.  Cute, huh?

I'm still hand-sewing the binding, but I hope to be able to show you the whole thing within the next day or two.

So aside from entering giveaways, what did you do today?

Nice blocks, both of them. Bow Tie Bonanza is coming right along. Love the dots you sued for the borders.

Both blocks are nice! I like how your lines ended up as Bow-ties too! I was thinking of signing up for the doll quilt swap group, but between work and rescue and my own stuff, I probably don't have the time and wouldn't want to disappoint someone by being behind. Maybe someday if I get to retire....
