One Stocking

Today I spent the day working on one of the two Christmas stockings I want to make for the kitties.  I decided on a cross between two patterns.  The first pattern was a stocking I saw on Make: Craft.  Their project appeared on their blog right here and looked like this:

I kind of liked the appliques on this stocking, but I was wanting a cuff on my stocking, and so I created a sort of hybrid stocking using the appliques from the Make: Craft stocking with another quilt-as-you-go stocking from a book I have in my library, Quilting 101:  A Beginner's Guide to Quilting.  (This was among the first quilting references I added to my library.)

There are several cute and simple projects in this book, but I especially like this Christmas stocking that I've made twice before.

And because I've made it twice before, I was looking to do something a little different this time around, so I just used the cuff and the stocking template from this design and added the appliques from the first stocking to it.  Here's the stocking I came up with:

The applique pieces are embellished with hot fix crystals, hot fix nailheads, seed beads, and metallic threads.

I still want to make one more stocking, and I might start on that tomorrow if I have time.  Swimming and the grocery store are also on tomorrow's agenda, and so I'm not sure how much time will be left for sewing.

Did you do any sewing today?

Love the kitty stocking. Smitty & Gracie sent a note to Santa, they want them filled with catnip toys :)

No sewing for me today, I spent the day in the kitchen with my husband baking cookies.

Those are so fun, love how you used the kitty fabric with the appliqués. I saw a cat snowman somewhere on the web, maybe if you do a coloring page search, it might show up.

Thank you! Your awesome stockings gave me a great idea. My cat nephew (my sister's cat, Lowell) still doesn't have a stocking. I made a stocking for my sister so why not make a smaller stocking for him (with felt and embroider "cats love christmas, too")

Love the cat fabric you used. So cute.

The letter I received rom Smitty specifcally requested loads of catnip-infused toys and fresh boughs upon which to rest his gorgeous body.
