This is the view from the McDonald Observatory in the Davis Mountains area of West Texas. When Mike and I made our first trip south for the winter back in 2007, this was one of the areas we visited. I kept a blog back then called "Ribbon of Highway". As this was in the early days of Blogger, it wasn't yet possible to embed images within the text of one's posts. All the images on this blog had to be accessed from a separate link. This image eventually became the header for the blog since it epitomized my vision of a "ribbon" of highway.

That's a great view :)
What a great view!!
Not a whole lot of traffic on that road, is there? :~}
What an awesome shot!! It is very ribbon-like road, too. Love it! :)
nice blog realy nice :)
I have been down that road! My son is moving back to El Paso and I hope to get his boys out to McDonald's. It is beautiful country with wide open spaces and sky's. Alexa, you are right. There is not much traffic there because there are no towns close!
Great view! Nice to see how it winds through the country side.
Oh, I love it. Living in a city, I'm always dreaming about wide horizons ... beautifuk picture!
Terrific shot!
I'm from West Texas. Back in 1994, some of us in the local theatre group 'rewrote' War of the Worlds to place it in the West Texas area, and the Davis Mountains was the area that the aliens landed. It is a lovely area. Small world.
Such a lovely capture! Thank you for sharing.
