Kitty Capers

Good morning.  Smitty here.  Or if you prefer, you can use one of my Mom's nicknames for me:  Smithers or Schmidthead.  My dad came up with that last one.

I've been working real hard helping out around the house.  I have to because my sister Gracie got sick.  She has to take medicine right now, and it makes her real mad at my mom and dad.

They told me I have to be real nice to her right now because she has a bladder infection.  She was widdling outside the widdler box, and so they took her to the vet.  She had to stay overnight until she gave up a sample of her widdle.  Then when she came home, she had to take medicine.  She has to take it twice a day for 14 days, and she's not very happy about it.  Nope.  Not one little bit.

So I'm picking up the slack with the hunting and everything that needs to be done around here.  I've been catching two or three mice every day.

And because I love my mom so much, I give them to her as gifts.  And I don't want them to get all wet and scraggly and so I always bring them right into the house.  I think my mom must really like them because she always gets so excited and says, "Oh, you shouldn't have!"  And then she squeals with delight.  Yep.  I'm a really nice guy.  Just doing my part.

And not only that, but I help her with her picture editing.

I want to make sure that whatever pictures she posts of me show off my best side...especially my massive thighs.  I've been working out.  I think it shows, don't you?

So, with all that extra work, I get pretty tired.  And now, it's time for my nap.  The mice are running, and I need all the strength I can muster.

Dear Smitty, You have the most important job in the household - of course you already knew that - but cheering Gracie up should be easy for a creative and obviously computer literate guy like you. Gracie looks just like me when I'm a bit put out - like when mom insists on brushing me, as if stitching my fur into her quilting was such a BIG thing! Doesn't she know that kitty fur on her quilts is my best way of showing appreciation! Oh yeah, those thighs, I wouldn't be showing them off too much, next thing you know that photographer that hangs around your place will be entering you in a calendar contest or something. Well, gotta go now and beg for some dinner. My kitty dish stays empty most of the time - darn dog - and my 16-year old bod can't make it up to the counter anymore. Take good care of Gracie. Your friend, Shyloe

Poor Gracie, hope she feels better soon. Good thing you're taking up the slack and keeping everything under control until Gracie gets better. Be sure and tell your mom that I love reading about your exploits and seeing your charming face in her posts.

Get well soon Gracie!

Smitty, try to convince Gracie that the medicine is really a treat that ONLY SHE gets to have. Maybe that will make her feel better about taking it.

I agree with Colleen, give the mousies to Dad, then Mom will have more time to take awesome pictures of you!

You are becoming quite the little helper, Smitster. A fine job of hunting and gathering and taking care of the old girl. I'm referring to Gracie. Keep up the good work.

I hope Gracie's feeling better soon, that's no fun for either of you, give her a pet from me please. I love the gifts the cat's bring, it's getting cool here so the rat's are on the move. Finding them on the doorstep in the morning isn't a great way to start the day, but, well... one less rat.
