Christmas Quilt Show

It's that wonderful time of the year when we all gather to show off our Christmas and winter quilts.  These are some of my favorite quilts of any show.  Here's my quilt which I call Oregon in January:

This quilt was made for a doll quilt swap on the Quilting Board.  The theme for the swap was "Show Us Where You Live," and the object was to represent the city, county, state, etc., where the quilter lived.

I chose this pattern to depict my home state of Oregon.  The blue and white polka dot fabric was to represent falling snow.  It is free motion quilted by me.  The quilting included Leah Day's "Pine Needles" motif in the outer border, an elongated meander in the lower snow border to suggest drifting snow, and a swirling motif in the sky to suggest blowing snow.  The mountains and trees are paper-pieced, and the moon is machine appliqued.  It finished up at 17 inches x 21 inches.

This quilt was inspired by the design of Eric Gunson of Pieceful Expressions Patterns, called "Mountain's Light".  I thought it represented my state well because it reminds me of the Three Sisters mountains in Central Oregon.

I hope you like my quilt.  Be sure and visit the rest of the quilts entered in the show.  Click right here.

Barbara, this is so pretty. I love the fabrics and overall color effect. It's cool the way the pattern puts snow on the branches and mountains without taking away their own colors. I also love that photo of the Three Sisters.
