Three Blocks

It's good to be back in the saddle and sewing again.  I was able to get three of my monthly blocks finished today.  First up was the last of the Blogger's BOM blocks.

Next up was the October block for the We Bee Learning block bee.

This is a great block.  It goes together from cutting to pressing in less than an hour.  It makes an 18 1/2 inch block, and it would be suitable for large scale prints.  I have a large scale print I'm wanting to use in a quilt I'll make for Matthew when he graduates from college within the next year, and I plan to use this block for that quilt.  I'm so glad it was chosen for the month of October.

Finally, I completed one block for the October Block Lotto.

This month's block is a split star.  We were to use two contrasting solids with a white solid.  I had scraps of orange and green on hand, and so that's what I used.  I kind of like these colors for October.  They remind me of the colors of pumpkins and their leaves.

And with that, I decided I'd done enough sewing for one day.  I still have some time before I need to start dinner, and I'm very close to finishing the embroidery block I'm working on for the Love Me, Love My Cat quilt.  If I get going on it, I might finish it today.  It's good to be getting caught up on my embroidery projects too.

Tomorrow I have to drive into town, and so I may not have any time for sewing.  If I do, I'll either work on the white trees or do the October Free Motion Quilting Challenge.  As usual, I'm putting off the free motion quilting challenge.  I like doing them once I get going, but for some reason, I always approach it with fear and dread.  It's easy to procrastinate.

Awesome tiger in the weeds imitation from Smitty....hope Bob is not around, tho. I know you are keeping an eye on your kitten, so he will be safe. I like the split star very much!

My cats do that too. I just don't get it. We have an entire house of wood laminate floors that would be so easy to clean and they have to puke on the bed or the one piece of carpet they can find.

I love the purple & orange material you used on the Blogger's BOM & also the black dot one. Do you recall what pattern the are or where you got them? I have to do all my shopping online and would like to get some.
All of your piecing is fantastic & I love all your color choices.

Great blocks. I like the one you are proposing to use for your son's graduation quilt. It has all kinds of possibilities.

Nice job on the blocks! I spy some lovely Laurel Burch fabric in that one double star. Love her designs.

I love those fabrics in your Blogger's BOM block. Is the one a Laurel Birch? And my Miami-fan friend would be ecstatic with your split star, although it looks like pumpkin colors to me. :D

Just saw that you won over at Sew Cal Gal. Congrats! (yes, I'm behind again, since I was out of state this weekend).
