Points to Ponder

This morning I completed the September block for the Promises and Borders quilt.

There is just one more of these and then I'll be able to sew the blocks together.  Of course, I'll need to sew the borders onto this block, the previous block, and the next block to get them ready.  But the less poking around in the mess downstairs the better for now. That will have to wait until I'm back in my sewing room.

Nevertheless, I wanted to continue on with my next embroidery block, and I needed to trace it out.  That meant I needed to poke around downstairs and find my light box.  Also, I needed to find the box with the fabrics for this project.  And the Pellon interfacing I'm using on the backs of these.  Oh yes, and I can't forget my red Pigma marker.  That was the hardest thing to find, but find it, I did.

I like this one.  "One can never have too many cats!"  Obviously, a value I hold near and dear.

So I sat down to trace it out with my light box and as I was getting things lined up, I was thinking to myself, "I should really have my glasses on for this."  Followed immediately by, "Actually, I can see this pretty well.  I wonder if I'll need my glasses as I progress."  [Considering this question for about 30 seconds while scanning my environment looking for my glasses.]  Then, I realized I was already wearing my glasses.  Sometimes I look everywhere for my glasses and then realize I'm wearing them on top of my head.  This is the first time I've actually had them directly in front of my eyes correcting my vision and not realized it.  Oy.  I'm pondering the meaning of this for now.  After my recent Rude Awakening #438, I'm not feeling optimistic about the future.

So as I was downstairs poking through the rubble of my sewing room, I realized that despite my best efforts at keeping the fabric bins cleared of debris, they are now buried hopelessly behind parts of my sewing table and associated drawers.  Until that's all hung back on the wall in its little nook, I won't be able to get to my fabrics.  I had in mind to start on my October NewFO sometime this week since I'll be stuck here while they work on the downstairs.  Which brings me to my second point of pondering:  Will I be drummed off my own blog if I have nothing to show for the October NewFO linky party in about 10 days?  It is my party, after all.  Wouldn't you think I'd take it seriously (ha!) enough to have something ready to go?  I wonder if just showing the pattern I've picked out...maybe even taking it out of the package is enough.  What do you think?

I'm seriously thinking that the sewing room must be finished by next week.  If that's the case, I'll have plenty of time to start something new.  And if not, maybe I can think of some sewing-related torture treatment for my contractor...hm.  Maybe he'll be incorporated into some scary project for Halloween and hung at my door as a sort of warning off to all future unreliable contractors.  Something related to a head on a pike, I'm thinking.

Wait a minute here! You have traced out your next kitty block - even though it's part of a quilt, that is still a NEW BLOCK, and as such, I think it qualifies as a NewFO!
Those kitties are so cute! I need to take some pics of the ones I'm working on this month, so I can link up this time. Yay me!

HI Barbara,
First time here at your blog and love it.
Do you think we were twins separated at birth. Your sewing world sounds just like mine.
Yes, I think displaying the pattern out of the packaging would suffice.
Happy Monday,
Nancy in Sunny SC

Barbara, just remember the song from when we were kids....It's my party and I'll cry (or not show anything) if I want to. :)

LOL,Brbara - no one's going to drum you out, and it's a great idea to share the pattern if that's all you can do because of the sewing room blowup. :D

Oh Oh Oh!!! I love that kitty block! Having seven cats, how could I not? LOL I am certain with your recent domestic near-disaster, you will be forgiven by your faithful followers if you don't have a Newfo to show. Besides, you make us all look bad anyway with all you get done! LOL

LOL - how many times I have looked for my glasses and they were on my head. I sympathize, Barbara. Love Jennie's block.
