We enjoyed taking a day off to be lazy. Our trip has been a lot of fun, and we've seen a lot of stuff. Sometimes it's nice to have a down day and to have absolutely nothing planned.
Smitty got out for a real walk yesterday. He got off to a slow start, but eventually realized it was possible for him to walk all over...far away from the trailer...and to sniff and explore. He's getting the hang of it.
He's been a bit of a pill in the trailer sometimes. He gets very excited after his walks, or after eating, or after sleeping, or after doing his doody in his litter box (especially then), or after pretty much anything. Any sort of transition from one activity to another and he goes flying around the trailer in gravity-defying rounds up the interior walls. During our grocery shopping trip yesterday, we picked up a spray bottle that will spray a single stream of water. Now, when he's doing something he shouldn't (especially when it's something he KNOWS he shouldn't), we give him a little squirt. The first time we did it, he appeared shocked. Shocked! And he slunk off to dry his fur with his tongue. Now, all we need to do is pick up the bottle, and he's deterred. He's a quick study...and he hates water.
So to make up for our cruelty, we picked up a little stuffed grey wolf for him yesterday. It's very soft and floppy. We figured the 14 or so cat toys he already has were inadequate for his needs, and we brought him this little character. He was thrilled with it and immediately grabbed it with teeth and claws, and kicked the living daylights out of it. Later on, we found him sleeping with it. Beware: the following images are sweet enough to cause nausea.
Now if he would just let me dress him up in baby clothes, grandchildren would be completely unnecessary.
We're moving on today in the direction of Boise. We won't get all the way to Boise today, but that is the general direction. Thanks to SewCalGal for the West Yellowstone restaurant recommendations she gave us yesterday. In a few minutes from now, we'll be enjoying a breakfast buffet. After that, we'll hit the road. I imagine Smitty will spend the day alternately killing and loving his new friend, Wolfie.
Gracie, for her part, is glad to have someone else taking the brunt of the abuse.

Fight and make-up sounds normal.
I can just imagine Smitty's face when he got the "water canon" treatment. It's good that he got the message quickly.
He's such a cutie anyway. Hope his new buddy survives the rest of the trip.
Awwwwwww! So sweet!!! He's so young - I envy his energy. I bet Gracie does too :*)
I love it....every photo Smitty looks more and more like our Buster who has been gone about 3 years now. That long tail that got dipped in black paint is the exact match! So I relive fond memories of his antics by reading about Smitty--fear of water and all! Thanks. Safe travels too.
Awwww, love Smitty and Wolfie, what a pair...LOL..and Gracie? Well, I am pretty sure she is thinking, "Oh, I can finally sleep with both eyes closed."
Just too cute!
Your trip sounds like so much fun.
I got the giggles when you were talking about your kitty. I can just imagine.......
What a fun trip for all of you, including the fur children. Hope you don't run into any smoke clouds on your way home.
I love little boy kittys! He acts just like my late kitty Opus! I love it when they roll around with stuffed animals and get all hyper.
Smitty is smitten! Little boy kitties have as much energy as little boy people! Love your photos!
Thank you for your kind words about Tamir. We will miss our very special ManCat but know he lives on in our hearts.

Now, Mom, you know you shouldn't spoil the kids so!
That is sweet! He needed to cuddle!
I enjoy camping, since you can go all day or just sit by the fire and relax, only way to travel. Smitty is so funny and yes that is tooooo cute. Poor Gracie looks like she is saying, is this trip over yet, I just want to go home, lol.

He really is a darling...character that he is! I think Leia's in a 6-9 month gown ... I'd be happy to send you one in a smaller size for Smitty! :)
I really love it when you do blog posts of your kitties. Smitty is such a character and Gracie is so pretty. I have been sitting here, reading, and saying 'AWWWW" LOL Have a good one.
Smitty is such a piece of work. I love hearing about him. (and seeing pics of Gracie--she's so pretty).
I think I shall have to institute a rating system on your posts....maybe one giggle, two giggles, etc. The top is coffee out the nose --- that is what happened this morning, when I was completely unprepared for "dressing him up and taking care of the need for grandchildren." Haha! And you snuck it in there right after an Awwww moment, envisioning Smitty holding the wolfie toy and kicking the snork out of it. :) You crack me up, girl! Have a great day!
Such cuteness to see Smitty in his harness and loveing on his Wolfie. Love your blog. Thanks for the lovely pictures of your travels.
What a cute picture of Smitty with his new toy. Absolutely heartwarming. Love it.

What little sweethearts!
Awwwwwww, what a life! Such a cutie!! I bet Gracie is relieved that Smitty has a new friend - one that accepts all his lovin, however it comes.
Thanks for the cuteness!
I can just picture Smitty having the rips from one end of the trailer to the other! Water bottle to the rescue....!
I can't get enough of that Smitty cat! I could only imagine what my Riley and Oliver would do in an RV, although my house isn't all that much larger than one!! LOL
