52 Photos Project: Doorways

The prompt for this week's gallery is:  Doorways

Here's my entry.

This picture was taken at Kylemore Abbey and Gardens in Ireland.  I was fortunate to travel there in June of this year.  The gardens were beautiful, and they are working gardens that include fruits, vegetables, nuts, and culinary and medicinal herbs.  The harvest is used in the restaurant on the grounds as well as by the residents of the abbey.

At one time there were several greenhouses on the grounds, but they fell into disrepair and the greenhouses collapsed. Some 20 years ago, through a variety of funding sources, the gardens began to be revitalized. At least one of the greenhouses has been repaired, and the others are in the process of being repaired.  This is the one wall remaining of one of the greenhouses that is scheduled for repair.  The doorway leading from the outside to the outside was sort of intriguing to me.

For more doorways, visit the gallery.

When I saw the theme I thought of you and wondered which one you would pick. This one is wonderful and intriguing to me too. Did you walk through it?

strange how the door looks oddly new against the old stones. I have always wanted to travel to Ireland and this picture is another example of why. lovely and mysterious

An Outside to Outside door. Interesting concept. Great photo!

Certainly a very unique doorway. Is a key required to get outside?

Love this one! I really like that the door is not in the center of the picture - or the wall. I had wondered if you would find an Irish door....!
