This week's prompt is "A Moment in Life". We are told:
Each of our moments will look different from one another - and that is the beauty of life and living ... none of ours will look the same.
I'm inviting you to share a moment - any moment - that gave you time to pause, to capture, and to savor.
The prompt gave me pause...since these kinds of moments don't generally send me running for my camera. Some things simply can't be captured in photography. Then I remembered the trip we took through Canyonlands National Park a few years ago. We rented a Jeep and took the Long Canyon Jeep Trail which passes through the park. We were on a three week trip and visited a number of national parks.
Mike and I love the national parks for many reasons. We love hiking into the majestic places and feeling dwarfed by the landscape around us. Canyonlands was especially spectacular and driving into the canyon, seeing how it had been carved by the Colorado River, seeing ancient petroglyphs along the way...it all made for an experience that was both awe-inspiring and humbling.
When Mike and I see these places, it puts everything into perspective. We realize that we are only on this earth for a tiny speck of time, and that almost nothing we do will have any impact on what happens after we are gone. Our cares fall away and we are completely present in the moment. Shortly after this picture was taken, Mike stood up and raised his fists and shouted, "I AM A GOD!" and that set me giggling. As I said, the experience was humbling. His bellowing only seemed to emphasize his powerlessness against the forces of nature as the sound was swallowed up by the vastness of the canyon.

Wow, nice picture, the colors are so rich and having Mike in the picture really puts the size in perspective.

Gorgeous photo - awe inspiring! Almost takes me there. I love the way Mike is sitting there with his back to the viewer, contemplative and relaxed, surveying the wonder....
