Stash Report: Week 30

This week I was able to use quite a bit of yardage because I made the back for another quilt.  The quilt was all made from fabrics already in my stash, and so nothing in, but quite a bit out.

Fabric Used:  4 1/4 yards
Fabric Used in 2012: 104 1/2 yards

Fabric Purchased:  None
Total Fabric Purchased in 2012:  77 3/4 yards

Net Used in 2012:  26 3/4 yards

It's a good tally, but we're planning to take off on a three-week RV trip to Stanley Basin, Glacier National Park, and Grand Teton National Park the week after Labor Day.  We've wanted to visit Glacier ever since we read a prediction that the glaciers in the park will all be gone within twenty years.  We've visited all three places before, but never for anything more than just driving through.  We're looking forward to doing some hiking this trip.

We spent the night in Stanley Basin several years ago.  We thoroughly enjoyed our visit there and had an entire campground to ourselves.  Here's an image from when we rented a boat and motored out onto Redfish Lake.

I had to go way back to 2003 to find this image, and so I'd say it's high time we went back, wouldn't you?  We're looking forward to it.

I bring this up because if I know myself . . . and I do . . . there will be plenty of stops at quilt shops along the way.  I'm saving my fabric purchasing power until then.

Barbara, there a 2 quilt shops in Kalispell MT, which you should be going through on your way to Glacier. I recommend Glacier Quilts on the north end of town across from Costco. The other one is on the south end of town and is The Quilt Gallery & it is great too. There is also a quilt shop in Whitefish, and one in Polson! Enjoy your trip, and it has been HOT over here, but cools down at night.

My husband is born and raised in Montana. There is a quilt shop on the Hwy between Great Falls and Havre (its a long road!)...its in the middle of a wheat field! You have got to stop there, it was fabulous!
