Meanwhile, Back in the Sewing Room

Gee, I thought I might never get back to my sewing room.  Today, I repotted all the tomatoes into larger pots and cleaned out the greenhouse.  I had to clean out the greenhouse to make room for the tomatoes.  Once that was done, I was able to organize my sewing room.  Tomorrow, I'll be back to sewing for the first time since my trip.  I've really missed it.

Part of what I did while organizing was to go through all the bee blocks I received for the We Bee Learning block bee.  People made the nicest group of blocks.  I have all but one now, and frankly, I'm not sure who the hold out is.  Hopefully, it will come soon.  If not, I can make up the difference myself.  Here are all the ones that came while I was in Ireland:

I can't wait to see how these will all looked when they are laid out into a quilt.

Then, these things are related to my Ireland trip in one way or another.  This is the first stitchery of the "Love Me Love My Cat" quilt that I started as my June NewFO project.  I had plenty of downtime to complete the first stitchery.  Then I did so much flying on the last day that I nearly finished up the second block too.  I'll show it to you as soon as it's complete.

My Irish roommate and traveling companion, Karla, made this table runner for me, which she gifted me while we were there.  I gave her some Oregon hazelnuts from the Portland Farmer's Market.  Karla really went above and beyond the call of duty with this pretty table runner.  Didn't she choose pretty fabrics?  Thank you, Karla.  I really enjoyed having you for my roommate.

Finally, this is the only fabric I bought while in Ireland.  I picked this up at the little quilt shop I wrote about.  I didn't see a lot of regional fabrics while we were there, nor were there any quilt shops to speak of.  We stopped at the shop where I got this fabric almost as an after thought, and so I'm very glad we did.  I don't have anything in mind for these fabrics.  I just wanted something that looked like it came from Ireland.  Eventually, I'll figure out what to do with it.  These are all fat quarters.

So with that, I'm ready to resume my life.  I can't think of anything else I need to do, except maybe to catch up on my sleep.  Fortunately, I have a quiet week ahead.  There is rain in the forecast, as there was today, but today turned out very nice.  It was quite warm working in the greenhouse.  Hope you all had a nice father's day.

Welcome home. Pretty reminder fabrics, I like to have a tactile reminder of when I have been away-somehow just cements the trip for me on some subtle level.

Great blocks from your Bee! It looks like they've given you a wonderful variety to work with :*) I just LOVE your new stitchery! If I wasn't already working on two stitchery projects I would have to join in on that one. Maybe later....

Your fabric is a winner! It certainly says "Ireland" to me, and I love every one of the complement fabrics to go with the panel. Good choice!!!

Glad you are home and settling back in. Having a quiet week ahead is a real bonus!

Oh Barbara, your swap blocks are wonderful -- what a great collection you've gained! Love your little stitchery, too! Your little Irish fabrics are pretty -- was fabric much more expensive there? Have a great, peaceful, sewingly wonderful week! :)

The blocks will make up nicely together.

I didn't find any regional fabrics either. I was thinking that you might find some at the quilt show, but your Celtic fabric looks Irish.

Ooh ooh ooh!! I can't wait to see the other cat blocks! (Don't tell Diamond dog, she'll be so jealous!). I just remembered I have a cat quilt in my UFO pile..... Those swap blocks are nice! I think the fabric you got in Ireland is great. Can't wait to see what you dream up to use it in!

Welcome home! Betcha the kids are glad to have you back:) The table runner is absolutely beautiful but the Oregon hazelnuts are an awesome gift also:) Your fabric from Ireland is so very pretty and I am sure you will find a wonderful way to showpiece it. I really like "Love me, Love my Cat". Seems like you have been very busy while you were away - jeez, are there two of you? Glad to have you back - I told my daughter about your trip to Ireland - she is so very jealous - that trip is on her bucket list - she is leaving for Bermuda on Thursday but she is only 25 on Saturday - her half Irish eyes will be smiling in Ireland someday.
