Morning Macro

This iris are opening.  A few colors have yet to show themselves, but some of the purples, blues, and variegated blossoms have arrived.  Rain is predicted today, so I ran outside practically before dawn in an attempt to defeat Mother Nature.  She has a way of ruining the iris with too much moisture.  If there isn't too much rain, it can enhance the images with water droplets.  Since Oregon isn't known for its rain restraint, I decided to get out early and not leave it to chance.

I can't look through the viewfinder at these beauties without thinking of Georgia O'Keeffe.  Here's what Georgia saw:

Here's what I saw:

There are still more colors left to open.  Some are apricot.  Some are blue with yellow centers.  Some are purple with more orange than the ones I've shown here.  I hope they open before I leave on Sunday.  And I hope the rain doesn't ruin them before I can photograph them.

Lots to do today, and so I'd better get to it.

Irises are My Guy's favorite flower. Beautiful shots. It would be impossible to pick just one as my favorite.

They're sooo pretty!!Years ago, we had the good fortune to live close to Andre Viette's farm & even got to meet him...just loved going over the mountain to see him....then we moved..to the same town as Elsie Dinsmore Popkin! We stumbled across her, out in the garden chalking up a storm, before we knew who she was! To us, she was just a friendly, talented lady, not at all the snob she had every right to be!

Thanks for sharing your garden & bringing back those memories! Have a wonderful trip & wishing you lots of ribbons on your quilt!
