Northwest Quilt Show, 2nd Batch of Quilts

When I sat down here at the computer, I didn't intend to write this post.  Still, it seems an excellent way to put off going to the grocery store just a little longer.  By the way, click on any of the images to see them closer.

This first quilt was exquisite in its detailing and thread work.  It was three dimensional and the textures were amazing.  This picture doesn't do it justice, but I'll show it to you anyway.

This next one is especially for Jacque and Padsworth over at Lilypad Quilting.

So cute.  Mae and I loved this next one.  The colors were so cheery and the details were such fun.

I have some black and white fabric similar to that narrow inner border.  I've never been quite sure what to do with it.  I like the way it's used in this quilt.

Check out the keyhole on the door.  It is a metallic ornament.  I think she must have glued it on.  I couldn't figure out any other way that it was attached.  But what charm!

I loved the quilting in this one too.

This next one really set a scene for me.  And I love the fabric behind the silhouette.  I think the quilter may have dyed this herself.  Very pretty.  Simple quilting, but very effective.

I've never seen marking like this on the silhouette.  It looked like pencil, but it must be something permanent.  Very interesting.  I'd love to know how it was done.

This next one is for you selvedge quilters.  This quilt was small--about doll quilt sized (and it was straight and square, despite what the photographer did with it).

The next one was fairly three dimensional in its detailing.  The bricks stood out from the background, giving them the appearance of actual brick and mortar.  The black piping also stood out from the background, as if peering through leaded glass.

Mae and I were both drawn to this straight line quilting, which added so much texture to all the quilts that employed it.  Love it.

Okay, that's all I have time for.  I really must get going to the grocery store or there won't be anything for dinner tonight.  I haven't done any sewing for a couple of days.  I'm worn out after finishing the Home is Where the Heart is quilt.  After a couple of days off I'm ready to get back at it, so I'm hoping to have some time left over this afternoon to start working on some of my monthly projects.

How's your Monday shaping up?

Beautiful quilt show and I enjoyed your post for Matthew's birthday, wonderful tribute to a wonderful young man. My son just turned 30 and my daughter turns 27 this month.

Those are amazing! I was just drooling over that key hole, or one very much like it, at the scrapbooking store.

So many nice quilts that I couldn't decide which one I liked best. I'm very fond of frogs though.
