Today I was able to finish all of the pebbling on the Pretty Little Ponies doll quilt.
That took me most of the day. If you've ever done pebbling, then you know it is very time consuming. After that I sat and stared at the quilt for a good 15 minutes. I couldn't decide what to do next. I had in mind to do straight line quilting in the sashing, but I couldn't figure out a way to do it that wasn't going to be totally boring. In the end, I decided to do a small stipple,
and to put a horseshoe in the four patch block.
Okay, so I'm not an artist. I tried doing it several different ways . . . on the quilt. You might think it would have made more sense to use a practice piece for practicing, but that would have been far too practical. It made a whole lot more sense to me to spend an hour picking out my rejects. I didn't say it would make sense to anyone else . . . only to me. And in hindsight, I'm thinking I'll try the practice piece next time.
In any case, I still have a ways to go on this, but I feel as if I'm coming down the home stretch. I'm going to do a larger meandering design in the outside border once I have all the sashings and horseshoes finished. And then I'll call it quits on this one.
My commitment to do the other doll quilt right away is waning. I might have to do something else first. Free motion quilting is challenging and interesting for me, but it is also tedious. Too much tedium, and I start getting careless. It might make sense to come back to the other quilt when I'm feeling fresh. The quilt sandwich is made, and that is three-fourths of the battle in my sewing room.

The quilting looks great. I like the multi colored thread you are using.
So cute! I love that thread you chose and the addition of the horseshoes is just perfect! You're too hard on yourself - they are wonderful!
Looking good!
Love the thread you are using, is it machine or hand quilted?

I like your quilting choices. I was going to suggest just what you are planning to do next with the borders. After FMQ all day I'd just sit and look at it too,. Very nice. I love the horseshoe - it's whimiscal, just as it should be.
I love it! it looks great!
I think the horseshoes are darling and I'm sure the recipient will fall in love with the quilt immediately.
